Uhmmmmmmm… The “Freemasons” proper are an 18th Century invention of a bunch of (quasi-) nobles who wanted a “drinking association” where they could perform “spiritual mockery” playacting.

In other words, they were a bunch of goofballs at the start, although they became more and more sinister as time went on.

Well, I gave my dad a ringy on the phone yesterday.
Had to talk through my mother, though.
He said that they view the Trinity as valid.
He isn’t the highest degree…only 32 degree.

His particular group of masons fund raise for poor youth who can’t afford surgery. They interview prospective beneficiaries, and
then whoever is approved, gets life changing as well as
life saving surgery.

Well, my father has attended mass several times and
has never been refused Eucharist.
He’s not an antiChrist, I can testify to that. I’d say
he really doesn’t have anything to worry about when
his death day comes. He’s pretty saintly.

Now, my mom…well, that’s another story. She needs
some repenting before she goes.

These are what we know them as today, but their true roots and origins go back further. There are some who claim that high ranking members of the Catholic Church are also members of the illuminati and/or freemasons, even though the church is allegedly opposed to them.

I can’t believe that the RCC is opposed to this group of saints.

What, pray tell, is so bad about them?

You’re getting REAL close to saying “Hello” to my little friend, the ignore list! 🙂

I agree that there ARE these wacky, and not so wacky, conspiracy theories, but please cite some references when you say things like that.

…such as “Secret Societies”.

I don’t believe I’m allowed to post “Most Holy [etc]” (that supposed “post Vatican-II counter ‘Catholic’ church”) information or links, so I won’t, but they do propose many really wacky anti-[actual]-Catholic conspiracy theories.

IF I AM allowed to post such links, let me know, and I shall,… 'though people are probably “already there” by now.

Well, my father has attended mass several times and

Then he’s explicitly in mortal sin for both BEING a mason, and for accepting the Eucharist unworthily.

With this last statement, the Sacred Congregation points out to the faithful that this membership objectively constitutes a grave sin and by specifying that the members of a Masonic association may not receive Holy Communion, it intends to enlighten the conscience of the faithful about a grave consequence which must derive from their belonging to a Masonic lodge.”

So, someone’s got some hard lessons to teach.

:shamrock2:

Apologies to you, then, on behalf of my kin.

I’ve got this theory, though, that it is God, Himself,
that reveals through the Eucharist. If a desired
sinner receives the actual Body and Blood of
the loving and divine savior, this sinner
may more fully come to know Him as He actually is.
It isn’t for the other sinner’s on this earth to dictate
who, when, where, how God, Himself, should
do His teaching.

There ARE miracles surrounding the eucharist.
I do not think that I would want to be a blocker
of those miracles. I truly do not believe that the
RCC wants to block either, only certain members
such as yourself.

And another thing…When was the last time YOU (the person without ANY sin) worked forty hours a week…earning absolutely nothing for yourself…to make sure that an economically disadvantaged child… picked on, ostracized by society all because they happened to be born with a upper lip that was clef…was able to get to one of the finest hospitals in the USA, have the best of the best of plastic surgeons repair their whole being, their whole future life.

God absolutely sees this activity on earth. And He smiles.

So be it. I won’t drag my father to an RCC anymore.

I am not going to send him these links. They would hurt
his feelings. And, as he is quite elderly, I will trust that
God, Himself, will judge my father with His great mercy upon his passing , of which I have the most confidence in a heavenly outcome.

My father is a super gentlemen, humble of heart, hard working, spiritual, and God-fearing. It is against his very nature to offend ANY single soul on this earth nor refuse charity to anyone. He is a fine example of what Christ asks for in response to His love.

I have the utmost respect for the Mason’s charitable activities, positive social activism, caring, and willingness to do-the-right-thing to correct many social issues that affect the disadvantaged. They have consistently demonstrated this for many years in cities all over the world. The poster labeling them goofballs doesn’t have the tiniest clue of their vast public works, all they see is the initiation rituals. Sure its a social organization where you can have a few drinks with some buddies. Last time I went to a KofC or my parish mens club meeting, had a couple cold ones myself with some buddies. Duh.

Anyway, don’t stop from dragging your dad to Church if you’d like. Just ensure he’s a pew marker at Communion time. He shouldn’t be receiving anyway, as he’s not Catholic.

That must have been difficult to read. Remember the Church doesn’t view your father in the way Freemasonry is viewed. It’s not your father the documents are teaching about. I pray that you and your father recieve Grace from Our Lord for his reconciliation.

Perhaps your father is fully aware of the Church’s views and goes to Mass for your sake? Perhaps a subtle probing could lead towards communication that can heal the hurt that came with knowing this. Perhaps the Lord has your father in mind when you recieved the Grace to allow Him to embrace you.

Yours in Christ

Marvin

Well, regardless of your “theory”, which is a private revelation which directly contradicts Magisterial teaching which your holding to could EASILY be a mortal sin in itself, no one is to receive the Eucharistic unworthily, certainly no one in explicit unrepentant mortal sin.

Would you agree, to the latter part?

Quite so. I’ve never done that. More’s the purgation (or hell) due to me for not doing so. Although it’s never too late (til death of course) for “that good-worker” to reconcile with the Church and give up his mortal sins.

My hope is that he’ll disassociate with that which being associated with is mortal sin, and not drag himself to hell.
God absolutely sees this activity on earth. And He smiles.
Yes, He does, but blasphemy against the Holy Spirit (holding to mortal sin unto death) negates any amount of “good works”.

Remember. We’re not saved by good works. We’re saved by being as fully Catholic as possible, which simply being a Freemason negates in it’s entirety.

I do actually. I was a Freemason for a VERY short time. I studied all about them for months before initiating contact with them.

No one with half a brain would deride their “good works”, which are truly good.

But, they are goofballs, for two reasons:
  1. It is a “boys club” (and associated girls-club and kids-clubs) whose “fraternal” goals are quasi-gnostic playacting, and
  2. …justifying their silliness by “paying God off” with seemingly charitable acts which are in fact not “charity” but bribery.

This is like saying the Knights of Columbus is a boys club whose fraternal goals are play acting in musketeer costumes

You’re embarrassing yourself. Provide a link from a masonic reference on this. Not some nonsense link where it claims they’re goal is to take over the world.

The Church has valid theological reasons to exclude freemasonary. And it is not the RCC alone, there are Protestant denominations doing likewise. Based on theology and the quasi-religious membership activities and oaths masons subscribe to which are in conflict. *Not *based on unsubstantiated emotions and accusations as above.

This thread is far removed from the OP, perhaps it should be split.

Well, no, actually, it isn’t.

The Knights (KofC) have rituals that are thoroughly correct in their theology.

The FM’s have rituals that are (at best) gnostic.
You’re embarrassing yourself.
Do you think that’s unusual? I prefer to think of it as “baring my all” when called to do so for legitimate reasons, but I’m happy to see that your “oddly developed” sense of modesty is offered to me by yourself to shield me from what you perceive as “embarrassment”. 🙂

Ah, let’s see… Pike’s old book,… what is that again… “Morals and Dogma”, yeah, that’s the one.

…also: Check in here for “fun” stuff.

Let’s see, what else would you like, and what is your actual objection to what I’ve said, specifically? 🙂

Go for it! I’m not interested in starting a “Freemasons are goofballs” thread, though. 🙂
