Really, how common is “liturgical dance” and “stuff like that”? I’ve never once encountered it and I’ve attended Masses in multiple countries.

Perhaps it isn’t as common in the European countries, but in the United States, it is existent. Thankfully, I haven’t been to a Mass where there was liturgical dance, but I hope that I never will.

Existent, perhaps, but how common?

I’ve never seen it, except for youtube videos, and I’ve been to a wide variety of parishes in several states, including those known to be on the more liberal end of things.

It seems to be an extremely fringe thing. If its anything like the Youtube videos I’ve seen (a bunch of middle aged white people in leotards doing a pseudo-ballerina routine around the altar while carrying large clay vessels of something), I can’t see anyone appreciating it other than neo-hippies. 😛

African-style liturgical dance, on the other hand, I can appreciate within its proper context.

Though a bit further to drive, St. Alphonsus in Baltimore is run by the FSSP with 2 Sunday Masses (there is one OF Mass as well). We were just there last Sunday and it is a beautiful church, just not in the best of neighborhoods. There are a couple of more traditional OF Masses in northeast Virginia as well near D.C., but I can’t remember the names of them.

Holiness, even at the most utterly modernistic parish, begins with you. And I. And each of us. I would search the website and find what you are looking for.

Who then will fix the bad parishes? Someone else?

I get the feeling this was less about the OP finding a Latin mass while on vacation and more about him letting everyone know he’s Team Traditionalist.

All masses are equal, except some are “more equal” than others…
Yeah, I got that impression, too.
