Some background to start with. I am a practicing Catholic attending a Catholic High School currently. I am interested in the faith and always have been since I was a little boy. I tend to think a lot though and this leads me to ponder some difficult philosophical and theological questions. This is one of them.
I have 3 related topics, coming from a strange conundrum I was having. I was wondering if anyone can help me to understand/give me an answer to this. I’ll do my best to put it into words:

- The Beatific Vision sounds strange to me for a few reasons. The first being that you see the presence of God. I don’t want to seem nonchalant because seeing God face to face as he is would be amazing, but how is that the greatest thing ever? Just staring at God for eternity? Wouldn’t that be boring? I must be misunderstanding this.
- The idea of God being a lover kind of freaks me out. Here’s a quote from an article on Catholic Answers for some context:
**The idea startles: God as our erotic lover… In the New Testament as well, Jesus the bridegroom takes the Church as his immaculate bride (Mark 2:19-20, Eph. 5:25-27). Ancient Christian authors, such as Pseudo-Dionysius, understood “God is love” not just as “God is agape” but also as “God is eros.” Mystics, like St. Teresa of Avila, experience a mystical union with God described in language reminiscent of the union of man and wife in the act of marriage. The poet John Donne put it this way:
**Batter my heart, three-personed God . . . **
**Take me to you, imprison me, for I, **
**Except you enthrall me, never shall be free, **
Nor ever chaste, except you ravish me.
This is from God of Desire by Christopher Kaczor. Here’s the link to the article: https: //www. catholic. com /magazine/print-edition/god-of-desire
- Perhaps this is the most difficult one to answer. Now as a heterosexual guy in his teenage years, I have to tell you - I like girls… a lot. I know it’s crazy! Unthinkable! Anyways, I find it difficult to imagine being happy without a woman. I feel… “incomplete”. So taking this one step further, I have difficulty accepting that there’s no marriage in heaven.
