The Bible is a “Catholic Book”, therefore, everything in the Bible, in one way or another supports Catholicism.

Ignorance of Catholicism is ignorance of the Bible.

Your thoughts?

You mentioned this on another thread, Jimmy in response to me.

It’s a catholic book. Not a Roman Catholic one 😃

Nope, it is a Roman Catholic book, because it was the Roman Catholic Church and Roman Catholic Popes who approved it…right?

Nice try but wrong…please try again, thank you. 😃

Peace

Question, when & why did the Roman part of the Catholic Church remove some of the books of the Old Testament: 3 & 4th Macc., Susanna, Bel & the Dragon, etc. which the rest of the Catholic Church still uses?

I already know that Martin Luther removed an additional 7 books of the Old Testament in the 1500’s because he went to a local Synogoge to find out what books they were using for their Old Testament, not realizing that after Christ’s Resurrection in about 70 ad, the Jewish people got together and removed books which weren’t written originally in Hebrew and those that were not written within a certain vicinity of Jeruselem. (& plus Luther did not agree with a verse in either 1 or 2nd Macc.).

I’m especially curious because 4th Macc. is one of my favorites and it is found in the officially accepted (by the Melkite Greek Catholic Church) English version of the Bible. When did the Roman Catholics take these and other books out?

Actually it was the bishops of Carthage and Hippo. So maybe it is a Carthaginian Catholic Book.

Half of the Bible supports Judaism. And as Triune rightly identifies, maybe it’s an African Catholic bible.

According to logical rules of inheritance, the Bible is a “Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant” book.

If entity ‘A’ divides upon itself into entities A’ (I call it A’ because this entity retains the original name), entities B, and entities C, all three of these entities inherit equally from original entity A.

The problem here is not the claim that it is a Catholic book; it is the implication that it is removed from the Orthodox and Protestants.

If that is not the case in this specific instance, the burden of proof rests upon the one claiming this logical rule does not apply here.

I agree it is jointly owned by Catholics and Orthodox. However I fail to see how the sects can legitimatly claim any historical part of it seengs they have rejected both halves of the SAME Church to whom it belongs.

Blessings and peace.

All Good points.

I would like to hear a non-Catholic, Protestant response.

At this point, this is all based on your say so.

In other words, the a neutral, impartial observer must conclude that the Bible historically belongs to all three of Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant unless it can be clearly proven that the claims of one or more of these groups is illigitimate.

Your say so is not the same as clearly proven.

Oh, and the word “sects” is a pejorative and is condescending.

It is a CAtholic book in that the New Testement was written by Catholics under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit for Catholics and new converts to the Church.

However, I agree with Mozart that because the other groups came from us, they inherit it as well. I will not go so far as to say that 100% of them knew how to use the Bible, though

My Bible has different books.

It is a translation you do not use.

It does not have the corrupting influence of texts we disagree on like Vaticanus and Sinaiticus.

The first 2/3rds of it comes straight from the Jews not Catholicism.

I think those are four differences even you and I would agree on? Well you could disagree that they are corrupting but nevertheless they are not used.

Does yours contain the comma Johannium?

You’ve had two. Just not the responses you wanted.
Hello O.S. Luke,

That’s possible but I would still like to hear a few more responses before I provide a more detailed response. “Two against one”, isn’t fair to the the “two”….😃
