Yes, the Bible is definitely a Catholic book. Everything in the Bible, in one way or another, supports Catholicism.

Of course you would! The thread title was loaded with bait towards them and left little doubt as to your intention.
Hello Joysong,

I’m curious; you seem to have a lot of “advise” for me, why?

In your last several comments to me here and on other threads, your comments to me, all appeared to be somewhat condescending and they also seem to demonstrate a”holier and than thou" attitude, am I right?

Are you a Saint? Are you the single source of all Catholic Knowledge and “how to post as a Catholic”?

Are you here to prostylize and now want to explain to me how that is supposedly done?

I am not here to prostylize, I am here to ask questions and answer questions, to defend my Catholic Faith and to discuss the difference and divisions found in Christianity today. I am here to learn something from others about Christianity, I am not here to “learn about myself”…but thank you…

There are almost 96,000 members here at CAF. I am nobody; I am just one member. If you are going to spend your time here, “instructing” others and myself here “how to post” (in a way that you approve) then I suspect that you will be a very busy person.

If you have a “problem” with my thread titles, or posting style, then please, start your own threads. I do not need, for you to be my own personal “preacher”, please worry about yourself, thank you.

Here is the thread title -

The Bible is a “Catholic Book”, therefore, everything in the Bible, in one way or another supports Catholicism. Ignorance of Catholicism is ignorance of the Bible.

Do you agree or disagree with this comment and why?

Thank you 🙂

Ignorance of Catholicism is ignorance of the Bible.

Your thoughts?
ANOTHER slanted question by Jimmy B. Define Catholic in terms of your question for starters.

Another non-response…
So you cannot even define a word in your own question? That surely shows your slant of the question, you have no intentions for genuine answers. now do you? Why ask the question, just say what you want to say and be done with it. SO can you define your own question or not?

I’ll jump in with a view from a Protestant perspective.

When the contents of the Bible were defined (or, one might say, when they were recognized as being the canon in the Christian worship and study of the time), there weren’t any Protestants, but rather a single Christian church.

Along about the 14 and 1500s, though, the official church (what has come to be called the RCC), left the Bible and fell into corruption of several kinds, essentially leaving the Christian church. Protestants and reformers returned to the Bible and have, with some exceptions, stayed with it ever since.

The modern RCC has found its way back to the Bible to a great extent (and its supposed continued failings in this regard are not the topic here). Kind of like the Protestants gave the RCC a dope slap or two and helped it return to its real business.

I’m not prepared to defend every bit of editing that was done by Martin Luther and others. For all I know, maybe they went too far. But that’s not the main question posed here.

The Bible is a Jewish book plus a Christian book.

Hello thecoach,
the Bible a “Catholic Book”, and does everything in the Bible, in one way or another support Catholicism? Finally, Is Ignorance of Catholicism, ignorance of the Bible?

Is that better? Honestly, their sure seems to be many Protestants today (in general) who just love to argue everything semantically; to try to answer all questions with a handful of Bible verses or a sentence or two and to comment on the “messenger” rather than the message; or comment on how a question here is brought-up or asked, rather than answer the question…now why is that?

Is it because, there are no true answers outside of Catholicism, only cases where others have merely tried to copy, re-invent, repeat, re-word, agree with or argue something, which was already “Catholic”?

Flawed or incomplete copies, maybe?

Thank you for your post.

…The Bible is a Jewish book plus a Christian book.
Thank you for your post.

Does your answer here imply that the Old Testament does not, ALL, in one way or another, point towards Jesus Christ? Isn’t that why the Old Testament was included, in with the New Testament and along with the rest of the books, which make-up the Bible?

Peace

STILL cant define catholic in terms of your question…you do know there is more than one possible intended meaning, right? True answers and truth are found on the outside of it when you are free of externals and controls.

Doesnt necessariy make the OT “catholic” though, now does it? Whatver yuor definition of the term may be.

Lol…:extrahappy: :rotfl:

I can’t help it, but there are times when I get the biggest laugh here. 🙂

Since “Catholic” mean universal - I guess it’s for everyone!

I am beginning to wonder if Bible is even the proper word to use for the Protestent versions. As they had to take certain books out just to begin to make their version make sense.

So I think “Bble” is more accurate for Protestent version discussions.

But back to the OP, since Protestents use a different “Bble” than Catholics, I would definately say the BIBLE is a Catholic book.
can’t stop laughing, you made my day:p

seems like ignorance to me… Tell the Jews their OT canon is wrong, after all, it was their Scriptures before ours. Their canon is missing those books too, so…
