By the exact same token, sir, you cannot prove your claim to be true. As I mentioned, religious truth must be tested, and proven, through a very different processâŚand neither you nor I can prove anything that we believe to the other.I reiterate: the BOM is still a book of fantasy. The âGreat Apostacyâ is a figment of LDS imagination. The Catholic Church ( both Eastern and Western rites ) is the ONE TRUE CHURCH and all others are false. Try as hard as it might, the LDS CANNOT prove otherwise !!!

The Church put the books of the Bible together. There were other books which some people thought should be in the Bible, these books disagreed with the deposit of faith, so they were not included in the Bible. So, while at one time they were all a separate collection, since the 4th century, they have all been used collectively as the Bible.
Tell me, how is the BoM similar. You canât even say it was âtranslated.â With translation, you have a cipher for the original language. The original text is compared against the cipher or ciphers, and the best word is chosen which represents the best possible word. This is a time consuming process. Now, why donât you tell me, which of the translations (BoM or Pearl of Great Price) were done in this manner? I think we both know the answer to this. So, I stand by my above statement. In every way, shape, or form, your analogy is apples and oranges.

Please, rest assured I **will not **go with my mormon friend to her chruch on sunday, I never will becase your email to me made me realise that it would be far more dangerous to my faith then I expected otherwise why would the holy spirit be guiding you to help me and advise me not to!?

I just emailed mailed her and counciled our plan to go⌠She will get upset with me no doubt but hey, what kind of christian would get angry about that!? I have decided not to be so silly ever again.

I think you ought to attend where you feel comfortable attending, so if you have so much fear inside of you, then attending a Mormon service would not be for you. Being fearful about religion is not what God intended, but it certainly applies to a lot of people and a lot of religious experience and leaders who bring fear into the hearts of people like you. Remember when the angels said, âFear not!â ? Maybe they were inspired, do you think? Have a good evening.

I feel the Holy Spirit while Iâm at Mass, particularly after receiving the Eucharist. I feel the Spirit while Iâm praying the Rosary and the Chaplet, I feel the spirit in my personal prayers, after I read the Bible. I was led home to the Catholic Church. You and the other LDS on these boards keep making the claim that we donât have or recognize the Holy Spirit, but itâs not true.
I pray you can recognize the true Spirit. I pray you will accept the truth.

You misinterpret caution, discernment of Godâs will, as fear. One should work out their salvation in fear and trembling. Not the sort of fear you are trying to make here, but one that is based on love of God and fearing not being with the One who you love.
You know this very well, and so I can only assume that you are seeking to sow doubt, where there is none.

What I do know very well is that the âfear and tremblingâ sort of âfearâ means âreverential aweâ for God. It is to recognize that God is totally good and totally loving, and our human fears are not what He wants for us, but He instead wants us to live above and beyond the kind of human fear, for example, that a child has when someone threatens or is mean to them. God does not threaten His children in order to win their obedience.
I have no idea of Jenniferâs feelings, but I saw what she wrote, and as far as Iâm concerned, when I wrote âfear notâ then I think what angels say take precedence over what Christian55 might have said (I donât care what he or she said). Living the gospel is being enabled to live without doubt and without any sort of fear at all other than âreverential aweâ which is joyful.

When I left the LDS church, all I saw all around me was lies and hypocrisy. Thatâs why I became an atheist for nearly ten years. After all the lies Iâd been fed, being taught the LDS was the only true religion, I figured they all had to be false.
God works in mysterious ways. I was fine in my life, but never really happy. Over the ten years, he led me, step by step, little by little, home to his Church. You think Iâve been indoctrinated, I feel sorry for you. I am happy, Iâve found the truth. Yet, Iâm still learning. Iâm still a new Catholic with a lot of growing and learning to do. Everything I learn convinces me more and more Iâve found the truth.
There is only one truth. True, pieces of that truth can be found everywhere: Taoism, Buddhism, Judaism, in our protestant brothers, even the LDS. But that just shows the grace of God, as he is the ultimate source of whatever truth is found outside of his Church.
Once again, and always, I pray for those who do not have the fullness of Godâs truth. I ask that he guides all people home, to his Church.

Youâre right, he doesnât threaten us. Heâs given us a choice. The ten commandments and the things he asks of us are for our benefit. He gave them to us because he knows that following the commandments are the only way we can truly be happy. By participating in the sacraments, following his commandments, and cooperating with his grace, we have a chance to make the choice to be with him. If we choose otherwise, weâre making a choice not to be with him. St. Paul, says we should do that with fear and trembling, for we donât know the day our master calls. I think heâs just telling us to do our best at all times, because we love God.

If you had those kinds of feelings about people, you needed to leave and did the right thing. What I see around me is people who are human, loving, kind, joyful, cheerful, full of reverence for God, and who see the good in others rather than picking them apart. I guess we find what we look for. I live in Farmington, just down the road from you, but a world away, I guess.

Thatâs still relativism. I never spoke about feelings towards people. Whatever feelings I may have had towards any people were my problem, not theirs. The hypocrisy was from some of the people, the lies were the things I was taught about, God, Jesus, the afterlife/premortal existence and Joseph Smith. When I left, I didnât know exactly why, they were wrong. I just knew, they were wrong. It took ten years before I found the answer.
Donât know much about Farmington, but I love Lagoon.

Zundrah: I am so relieved that you are not going to the Mormon services. This has been so heavy on my heart. I do believe that the Holy Spirit warns us. This is not âfear,â as ParkerD would have you believe.
ParkerDâs response is precisely what I warned you about-that emotional manipulation the Mormons do so well. He is twisting my warning, the warning so clearly from the Holy Spirit. So, now he is trying to make you think you have to make a choice between listening to my warning or listening to the words of angels.
Zundrah, I continue to pray for you and for your spiritual safety. I continue to pray that God will call his angels down and place a hedge of protection around you. I pray that God will deliver you from any dark spiritual strongholds your Mormon friends may have created. And I ask that you pray for me as well. Because, in helping you; I am all the more a target. Yet, I know God will protect us both; and all those who warn you and all who work by prayer, word, or deed, to bring you to safety.
I have prayed for Scriptures to give you. Please do more than read them. Please pray for discernment and ponder them and take them into your heart.
Always remember the words of 1 Thessalonians 5:21 (ESV): 21. . test everything; hold fast what is good.
May Godâs protection be upon you, my friend.

You people amaze me. I wouldnât be afraid to attend a Catholic serviceâmy goodness. Of course Jennifer shouldnât attend an LDS service. She would bring too much baggage with her, just as each of you having commented about her not attending. Itâs just not that big of a deal to attend a church service, but my goodness if somebody has that much superstition they would think every bad thing that happened the following week was caused because they attended a church service.
