Abortion as birth control is especially heinous.

Still there is a slight difference between this and abortion as a part of a nationwide policy to eradicate the unborn from the nation and ultimately the planet.

My only point is that there are legitimate reasons why somebody can be 100% pro-life and stop short of choosing to compare abortion the the historical event known as “The Holocaust”…

A belief that the unborn are not alive is not one of them. To me the most compelling would be a respect for what the Jewish nation has suffered.

This does not mean that abortion is not a holocaust in its own right. One definition of holocaust is:

I would say that state sanctioned killing of innocent human life on a massive scale qualifies as “a mass slaughter of people”, wouldn’t you?
The Jews use the Holocaust as an example to others, and they acknowledge holocausts for holocausts wherever they occur. They don’t think that calling a genuine holocaust, “holocaust” is disrespectful. If you do to the memorial in DC, you’ll find for sale books on other atrocities around the world.

Just as an aside, there was 6,000,000 jews killed in the holocaust, no denying that. But the focus is only on the Jews usually. There were 6,000,000 other people killed in that Holocaust, and no one ever mentions them. I also think that is an insult to these people. Not a word usually is spoken about THEM. They seem to have been forgotten.

Slaughter it was to be sure…like cattle. I have no problem thinking that the abortion mills that exist throughout the world (and the chemical abortions are not even counted here)…yes, I would call that a holocaust. If mother Theresa uses it, if JP2 uses it. I have no problem using it. If it offends the Jews, well, they have to get over the fact that holocausts existed before and after them. And what may offend them more is that the aortion rate is just as high there in Israel and all Jews throughout the whole world, so, what they are doing to their unborn is no different than what happened to their ancestors a generation ago.

My two cents.
So you are saying that “what goes around comes around” for the Jews? That is worse than what I claim and that is you cannot compare the Holocaust to abortion, but you can? So unChristian like if you ask me. furthermore, many Catholics were killed and others, but the Jews were targeted immensely. Have you seen “Miracle at Saint Anne’s”?

Then we may have

THE holocaust which specifically is the slaughter of Jews and others by the Nazis

and

A holocaust which is any
mass slaughter of people
.

And abortion is clearly a holocaust under this definition.

Unless you believe that the unborn are not people which is totally not Christian of any flavour whatsoever.

Works for me.👍

Did anyone see this movie? I cried my eyes out. I felt for the little boy, but I suppose that could happen when Germans were so blinded by their own. The innocents whom didn’t even know what went on during the Holocaust. If you watch this movie, beware and have lots of tissues on hand.
What goes around comes around (for the German soldiers that is…). Sad, sad movie.😦
I think the movie was set during the initial stages or experimental period of the so called “Final Solution to the Jewish Question” by the nazi leadership.

Try watching the evil minds that perpetuated this systematic killing of the Jews during ww2 in this 2001 BBC produced TV series Conspiracy .

This will give a you whole picture of the immensity of the hatred the nazis have for the Jews which lead to the Holocaust.

May I add that the Holocaust during the war is an act of Hatred justified by convenience for the nazi party. On the other hand abortion today is an act of Denial substantiated by expediency for the parents involved.

Nevertheless both acts of murder of the innocents and the powerless and disrespectful devalue of human lives.

Of course you would…

Now, now!:tsktsk:There was absolutely no intent of even thinking that way. I was just saying that the Jews would be offended with the term holocaust when it comes to abortion because, and here is the clincher, they themselves have a high abortion rate! And they have a high abortion rate because they believe in it…🤷

Ok, I get it, but no offense to the Jews (since I am sticking up for them), even in the Old Testament have they ever listened to God? No. I am not talking about the Prophets here, but the Jewish people themselves.

How can something that is “unborn” as you claim, ever be called a life if it isn’t born yet? I would rephrase this.
How can someone who *claims *to be a catholic question that an unborn baby in the womb is a life :eek::eek:

The story of the Jews is also our story…and this will always be.

Why do you think the Jewish people have had a hard time for the last 2,000 years?

Uh… the prophets WERE Jews, too. So was Jesus - on both sides of the family! Ever read Matthew 1…

They’ve always had a hard time. Many Jews that I’ve talked with over the years have said that they believe they are the chosen people. The caveat is that the “chosen” part means they believe they are “chosen to suffer.” Whether we agree or disagree with that, the point is that there are Jews who believe that.

In Christ,
Andrew

Chosen to suffer…perhaps, they were chosen to have the Messiah be born unto them to lead Him to us, the Gentiles. We are the chosen now.

So, the Jews were chosen to lead the Massiah to the Gentiles.

You said that before didnt you?

That’s right, you said Jesus was ‘‘produced’’ to be led to the Gentiles:

The Jews were chosen to PRODUCE THE MESSIAH. Jesus said neither Jew nor Greek will come first. Jesus was produced to be led to the Gentiles.
I’m still waiting for the scriptural verse to back this up like you promised - that Jesus was ‘‘produced’’ to be led to the gentiles. Where exactly is that in scripture?
