Quite frankly, in my much more limited experience on these boards, I have seen far more “spite and hatred” and “condescending language” expressed by TLM supporters than from those who would self-identify with the “Novus Ordo,” earlier posts in this thread notwithstanding.
You’ve admitted your limitations and that statement is perhaps well founded. What’s said on these fora is nothing compared to what it’s like out in the real world. Have you ever talked to your bishop? Your priest? Have you been reading all the news articles on the Latin Mass, where there appears to be little, if any, moderation? If you call a few “God bless the Pope” comments “condescending,” then I suggest you get a better dictionary. And if you call a lot of “I prefer the Mass to be English, please don’t take it away from me” comments as highly-educated, then I’ll consider burning all my books and start watching Potter movies to attain a higher spirituality.
I am old enought to have been an “altar boy” (as we were then called) for 8 years serving at the Tridentine Mass; I welcome its return, and I do NOT want to see it overlaid with later elements. I would be honored to stir these old bones and dust off my still-remembered Confetior to serve at a TLM.
Good. And we’ll leave it there.

Some exceptions are allowed: Nuptial Mass and First Communions, I think.

But we all know what exceptions turn into.🙂
No I don’t think Nuptials or first communicants can “jump the fence”.

Wow its been a whole 3 days and the Modernists already want to tear the Classical latin Mass to pieces with innovations.

When This blows over the prgressives wont’ be showing up for TLM.

Because there will be hardly any TLMs for them to show up for!

For the TLM to survive Vat II—it is the will of God. He did not want the TLM to be erased from the minds of the people. At this point–we do not know the future.

The Pope has made it very clear that the two rites cannot be mixed. Pope Benedict said they are two expressions of one Latin rite. The innovators should be able to read that in translation as “no novelties or innovations allowed,” or FOLLOW THE RUBRICS! How hard is that to understand? Anything else is disobedience, pure and simple.

So true.

Fr. X actually allows some older women to make the responses but from their pews. Also they ring the bells from the pews. He simply says Mass without any servers.
My mother went to an all girls boarding school in Ireland. That is what they did. A few girls would give the responses from either the pews, or at the Communion rail.

One of the sisters (kneeling at the Communion rail) would ring the bells at the appropriate times.

So even in an all girls school run by nuns, women did not serve in the Sanctuary.

I am married to a non-Catholic that goes to Mass with us weekly and on Holy Days. He participates in the Mass (no communion) and yet has not converted. We don’t discuss the issue as this has been going on for 39 years:confused: . Tuesday night we were watching EWTN and he made a comment about the fact that women should not be servers and on the altar. Now I agree but have mostly given up on the issue in the NO parish we go to. But, now I wonder (I will need to ask this time) if this is the issue that is keeping him from fully becoming Catholic.

As a woman I have civil rights and obligations. As a woman I have religious rights and obligations in support Holy Mother Church and her decisions. Yet, I wonder how many people are also put off by the indult of “females at the alter”?
