  1. The Catechism neither supports or contradicts the view that there might be a genetic or biological component involved, despite it saying “it’s psychological genesis remains largely unexplained”?
  2. Despite the Catechism saying “it’s psychological genesis remains largely unexplained,” does it neither support or contradict the view homosexuality might come from some problem during pregnancy?

I understand the definition of infallibility. No need to be insulting.

Correct and correct. Did you know that the psychological genesis could lie in brain chemistry? This was explained to you earlier, on one of the 3 threads you started on this topic…

Psychological, biological, and genetic are not mutually exclusive…

A completely genetic disorder that can be p(name removed by moderator)ointed down to a single nucleotide of a hypothetical gene could still result in psychological manifestations.

So gayness could be due to brain chemistry? Not surprising, really. They think OCD and possibly depression is due to brain chemistry, too.

You need to address the behavioral psych or genetics community not Catholic apologetics.

Oh, please. People start threads on all sorts of topics and these forums are certainly fine for the discussion of this particular topic.

Maybe you should simply refrain from commenting if you feel these questions aren’t suited for CAF?

So you found an example of a condition with biological component that leads to psychological manifestation.

The only difference is instead of OCD, plug in “same-sex attraction”.

That there is a biological/genetic/neurological aspect to attraction (same-sex or opposite-sex) has no bearing on what the Catechism says.

Even if there were a hypothetical gene whose mutation causes same-sex attraction, it doesn’t invalidate what the Catechism says.

The issue isn’t the topic. It’s that there’s a confusion in language and what biological/psychological means and doesn’t mean.

Can you just address the point? The Catechism does not address definitive scientific propositions

Two threads. And the second thread wasn’t meant to be a duplicate of the first, but a way to find an answer to something posted on the first without derailing the thread.
The second thread, like so many just took on a life of its own.

Dunno. Most studies seem to point to lots of factors, involved in same sex sexual attractions, mostly environmental (as i understand it).

But before I go, your answers to my questions in post #115 is still:
  1. correct &
  2. correct?
Right?
