don’t be too hard on yourself it shows through on the worst of us too.Does my temper show throufg that much?![]()
Despite the abuse you have suffered, you are still a bright, creative, passionate young man who is obviously fervent about his faith.Oh yes, you’ve touched my inner child
That is my point. You are lowering yourself to his level!I was being sarcastic.
I understand that, but this is falling short. It is bad enough that you have been treated hurtfully by short sighted or bigoted persons. Don’t perpetuate it by feeding into it.I don’t I show it to show how people on here are either mean or retarded.
Young man, I have given you no reason to be sarcastic with me. I ask that you not take out your resentments for other members on me. I am trying to support you here because I respect your inquiry.Code:But my bible is not right. right?
You do not believe that your faith is counterfeit. You are using that insulting quote to showcase rudeness and bigotry that you have received. It is not productive to focus on the negativity.Code:falsehood? How is that false?
No, the Church does not sin. People sin. People who are attached to the Church have committed evil acts, and wounded the Body of Christ.Code:The church not sin? Well, then it commits evil things, hasn't it?
Because I know that the Church is pure, made so by Christ himself. I am also not so prideful that I realize my own capacity to commit equally atrocious acts, and though I abhor the evil that has been done in the name of Christ, or the Church, I realize that we are all capable of gross sin.Code:I do not see how you can take pride in following a "church" that has committed terrible things like it has.
Catholics would consider it to lack seven books, and some translations might have a few issues. This could lead you to some wrong conclusions, but in general, the text isn’t wrong as much as it’s just lacking a little extra info. It’s certainly good enough to be used for most purposes. But my bible is not right. right?
I LOVE Protestants. They make me a better Catholic.I am sure the main reason protestants criticize Catholicism is because they are taught from the bible. And the bible does not say “Pray the rosary” or “Ask Mary to pray for us now and at the hour of our death”.
This has all been hashed out a millions times in other threads. You know the story and the drill.
And I can predict your response. Because I read it under another topic title.
And protestants are not the only ones criticizing another man’s religion. I have read enough threads here to know that Catholics don’t like protestants. And in listening to Catholic Answers Live I have learned that many Catholic priests and believers also criticize and make fun of protestants.
So until Christians realize that the real problem is bringing lost souls to know Jesus Christ as their savior. Instead of proving that their religion is the only religion. We will make Jesus sad watching us so called “Christians” make a mockery of Christianity to the lost.
What things were taught before a word of Scripture was written, and how do you know what they are? When did the doctrine on praying to someone other than God appear. Can you document that for me?Yes, this is why we say that all who are led by this Spirit are Catholic! There is only one Church, One Lord, One Baptism. That is why all who are connected to the Head are members of the One Body.
This is how we understand what happened at the wedding in Cana. Jesus demonstrates the manner in which he responds to the intercessions of His beloved mother.
No, there is no rebuke. There is also no where in scripture where it states that scripture alone contains all that is appropriate for Christian prayer life.
Acts 2:41-42
" They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers."
Those who have separated themselves from the Apostolic Succession have lost the portion of the Apostles’ teaching that is not contained in the Bible, and from the Liturgy of the Eucharist, and the life of Catholic prayer. These things were taught to the Church before a word of the Scripture was written, and have been preserved by the Church to this day.
Not exactly, but given the title of the thread, I can only imagine.![]()
I think it can be good, that people find things they think/believe are wrong with the catholic church. Just like my husband did.
He told me last night, HE was wrong.
He told me the Church may just be right after all.
I never shut him down when he expressed himself. I simply prayed, offered up my daily work, all my pain, and went to mass as often as I could go.
He is going to be a catholic too now.
**I LOVE Protestants. They make me a better Catholic.
Seriously, we don’t eat Protestants for breakfast. We are your brothers and sisters and we know that we can learn a lot from you.![]()
Well there’s a loaded question if I’ve ever read one…By the way, do you know where the practice of mother and child worship began?
**Great story, I went through RCIA 7 years after meeting my cradle Catholic wife. It took me some time to realize the truth of the Catholic Church and then another few years after that to really commit. I’m still a poor sinner trying to do better every day. After attending many “major” religions I came to believe the Catholic Church’s historical position, their incredible network of Priests, Nuns, Monks, Bishops, and people that commit to the church put them in a unique position I wanted to be a part of.
The whole gospel that Jesus committed to the Apostles, and authorized them to teach it.What things were taught before a word of Scripture was written,
Because they have been preserved through the Apostolic Succession.and how do you know what they are?
I think your understanding of the word “prayer” is inadequate, so it probably will do no good. Unless you can grasp that “prayer” when used in this context means to supplicate or entreat, nothing I can show you will do any good. Catholics do not worship or adore anyone but God.When did the doctrine on praying to someone other than God appear. Can you document that for me?
No. I have been told by some Reformers that they believe Catholicism is a “mother and child” religion, but I do not know where that comes from. There is only one true church. It is composed of all believers who have been born again by faith in the Son of God and his atonement for us. When I occasionally recite the Apostles Creed, we say we believe in the holy catholic (universal) church.
By the way, do you know where the practice of mother and child worship began?
This is an amazing testimony. May God bless your witness to His goodness.**
I am a cradle catholic. I have actually have been around the world. I have been to many countries and into many religious facilities and churches. I have attended Mass in many countries. I have had communion at St Peter’s in Rome, In England, Switzerland, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Luxemburg, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwain, the Phillippines, and about 40 of our states including Alaska and Hawaii!
I have always been welcomed and understood exactly what was happening, dispite language difficulties! I still was able to eat the Flesh and Drink the Blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in all those many countries and various churchs!
A Protestant could never, in even the USA, feel as confortable in another Protestant denominations service as I did in the family of Catholic churches! God is Good!
God Bless. **
You had not noticed YET that SIA is not on these threads to debate seriously at all?No, but it is clearly how you intended it. Off with you.
You are teaching us the art of creative spelling and grammar!**
I also love Protestants! And dispite certain rumors, I also do not eat Protestants for breakfast! :tsktsk: I will admit to chewing on a few of their butts, !:bigyikes: But never in anger!More like “love” bites!
I have often been “confused” by Protestants of various denominations. Jesus wanted us to go out and convert all nations right? Have you ever noticed that Potestants spend a lot of time attempting to 'convert" Catholics that they do Heathens. it is true!
Because I am unafraid to profess my faith! On several threads I have attacked and even been accused of being a bigot! People who know me “in person” know different.Last year I actually help defend a Baptist Church that was being attacked by bigots because it moved into their neighborhood. Myself ,and other 'christians" provided 'guard duty" for weeks after their church was sewt on fire several times in a three week period.I do a lot with Protestants: 40 days Protest, Pro-life chain. etc. As a youth, I fought and got disabled for the things that our country stands for.religious freedom is one! I would never permit anyone to impose their religious beliefs on anyone. However I will continue to explain the errors of counterfeit denominations and their beliefs!
I said all of that to close by saying that we are all children of God. Jesus death was enough to save every human being evry born or murdered in their mother’s womb, if we accept His sacrifice and follow His real teachings! John 6: 53-59
“I am the Light of the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness,. but have the light of life.” John 8:12.
God Bless**
Thanks for that I have just filed it under Bigotry!**Ok Carl,**
**Calm down!****Remember the blood pressure! :tsktsk: **Would you want to know what The scriptures think of Protestants? “Whoever teaches something different and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the religious teaching is conceited, understanding nothing, and has a morbid disposition for arguments and verbal disputes. From these come envy, rivalry, insults, evil suspicions, and mutual friction among people with corrupted minds, who are deprived of the truth, supposing religion to be a means of gain. Indeed, religion with contentment is a great gain.” ~ 1 Timothy 6; 4-6
God Bless
So you’re saying the gospels we all have in our Bible were also preserved in your Bible…or is there something extra you have? The whole gospel that Jesus committed to the Apostles, and authorized them to teach it.
Because they have been preserved through the Apostolic Succession.
“I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions just as I handed them on to you.” 1 Cor 11:2
Catholics preserved and maintained the traditions, just as they were delivered. This is how God has been preparing a people for Himself for thousands of years.
I think your understanding of the word “prayer” is inadequate, so it probably will do no good. Unless you can grasp that “prayer” when used in this context means to supplicate or entreat, nothing I can show you will do any good. Catholics do not worship or adore anyone but God.
Quotes have already been shown to you from scripture, and you do not accept them.
No. I have been told by some Reformers that they believe Catholicism is a “mother and child” religion, but I do not know where that comes from.
Catholics believe that the effectual fervent prayers of the righteous avail much. We believe that the departed who are glorified are such persons, and their prayers are very powerful. We see a glimpse of the strength of Mary’s intercession at the Wedding in Cana.
It is the anti-Catholic Protestants that have the obsession with Mary. Communion of the Saints is in the Bible. We do NOT worship the Blessed Virgin. Veneration and Adoration are not the same. Our faith is CHrist centered. Your agenda is showing: to lead the faithful away from the Holy Catholic Church. So you’re saying the gospels we all have in our Bible were also preserved in your Bible…or is there something extra you have?
Still waiting on documentation of when the Catholic church first started teaching the you should pray to Mary.
Mother and child worship began with the pagan Babylonian worship system and is found in many false religions throughout history. In that verse I quoted where someone could be construed to be ascribing some kind of worship to Mary )“Blessed…”) Jesus rediredted them. The Catholic church could have served us well had they picked up on that.
The wedding at Cana was an example of an event in Jesus’ life BEFORE his ascension. He is the exalted King now and the only intercessor we need and the only one we have been instructed to employ. When I speak to Jehovah’s Witnesses about their special doctrines for which they have a proof text, they have an obsession that blinds them to the truth and they won’t look at the greater body of scripture. The obsession with Mary is amazingly similar.
yes, I have noticed that on many threads over a long period of time. However, I strive to give an informative and charitable response because there are usually around 10 times more lurkers reading the threads than posters. Something may help them, even if it will not help SIA. Such members are challenges to our charity. You had not noticed YET that SIA is not on these threads to debate seriously at all?
