A pile of $1 million cash is greater than a key. But if I am locked inside a burning building and only a key to the deadbolt will get me out, ii is the key that aves me, and then I can enjoy spending the million. Look out, friend, the building is on fire. God says they that are in the flesh cannot please Him. (Rom 8) You can’t love well enough to get into heaven. You have to be perfect. So God gave you a key, and it is trusting in what Jesus did on the cross for you. THEN His Spirit will come live inside you forever and you will BEGIN to be able to please God, becasue you will no longer be in the flesh, but in the Spirit.
sorry dude/dudette i am a living breathing human being i still need food air shelter water.i am not only a spirit.
would you be able to give a person who tells you that you are a peice of garbage food for the day? Why?

I love frivolous analogies like this. Without the key, true, you wouldn’t get out. But does the key spend the 1 million dollars afterwards? No.

This analogy makes no sense.

You should rethink what you said about being saved. It IS in fact the same as being a child of God. Everyone is a creation of God, but sindce Adam they were born in sin. But everyone “who calls upon the name of the Lord” is saved. Paul said to a bunch of Christians in all degrees of maturity, immaturity, struggling, learning, etc (the church in Ephesus)…“For by grace YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED, through faith, and that not of yourselves. it is a gift of God, not as a result of works, so that no one can boast.” Notice their salvation is past tense (actually with continuing result–it is a past perfect tense). They were all children of God, and, look out…if you care to honor the first few verses in Ephesisan, they were all saints as well. Time to do some serious, prayerful rethinking???
maybe you had better do some more reading of our Savior’s words…from the gospel according to St.Luke12;46"…will cut him asunder and make him share the lot of the unfaithful".Just what does the master command us to do "love thy neighbour"and how are we to love thy nieghbour?FRon St.Luke’s writing 10:30-37 the good samaritian…

was sin a creation of God’s. You really need to read more of the responses so you don’t sound like you live in a vacuum.
It does not matter who created sin. The issue is that since you are a created thing, you cannot separate you from God if He has saved you.

Thank you for the advice.

Well Paul says “Work OUT you salvation…” But he doesn’t say work FOR it! We have to harmonize all of scripture. We work out what God put IN us the moment we were saved (IF in fact we WERE saved). RCC’s seem to have very little concept of all that happened at the moment of salvation. Paul makes such a huge deal about it. Makes me wonder why he does and they don’t??? I’m reminded of the difference between someone who has seen the Grand Canyon and someone who has only seen pictures of it. Night and day difference. Or someone who has read about having achild vs someone who has one! Or someone who has a good father vs someoneof the salvation event and tell believers he is praying they will comprehend the magnitude of it, yet…???
You make me chuckle sometimes Martin, you must really consider yourself up there to make such a discrediting statement so critical of the very source all Christian teachings have generated from even those who distorted them into their own belief systems. That takes audacity. It seems every time you take one step forward you fall back five. :ehh:

you asked a question and the answer to the question you asked has been provided much earlier in the thread… see? you should have read the posts before and you would have known. no offense but you just can’t stretch the Gospel like play-doh to make it work for you. It comes all together.

well let’s stretch it out some more “to him much is given much is expected”😉

I agree that scripture cannot be stretched like play-doh. Could you explain what Paul means by we are saved by Grace through faith and not by works?

We are no longer under the law, but grace. Baptism, confession, et al. are not works of righteousness, but instruments of grace.

Hank can you explain why St.Paul said love is greater than faith.
BTW didn’t you once say that it is a work in it’s self to accept Jesus’s teaching.🤷

If you can’t explain why we are told salvation is a free gift without stretching the truth, I understand.

if you could show me where the scriptures say that salvation is a no strings attatched arrangemeny, I’d like to see it.

what’s the matter Hank still smarting after being swatted with scripture…
I asked a question. Can you explain why Paul says that we are saved by grace, through faith and not by works, without stretching God’s word? It has nothing to do with swatting. It seems clear that you can’t do so, since you have avoided the question.

I believe I answered the question. You are confusing “works of righteousness” with instruments of grace. You did you just ignore me?

Hank NOT one catholic believes one can be saved by works alone…NOT ONE CATHOLIC BELEIVES ONE CAN BE SAVED BY WORKS ALONE…not one catholic believes one can be saved by works alone…has that sunk in yet?
you (Hank) stated that through Jesus all sins are forgiven i said nope read scripture the gospel according to St.Matthew 12:31"…but blasmphemy against the Spirit will NOT be forgiven"
this you called my opinion.
there is a vast difference in my opinion and your opinion Hank mine is formed with the church and yours is formed with your own heart and we know what Jesus said comes out of the hearts of men.
and it is painfully clear that you can not explain as why St.Paul wrote that love is greater than faith…
St.Luke 7:47"…her sins, many as they are, shall be forgiven her,BECAUSE she has loved much…"

This does not explain the free gift of salvation, it only adds works. Paul said, “Not by works.”
