I stumbled into a strategy that’s been working well for me, although I didn’t really think about it until I was pondering your thread recently.I try to think twice befor responding to anything and many times have abandoned a post. The truth is I am not that knowledgeable on many of the issues to argue. But I think we all need a better spiritual strategy for discussing issues without getting insulting, unfair and angry.
Do you have such a strategy to share?
I spend most of my CAF browsing time on my phone, but I refuse to make any posts with my phone, because it’s so cumbersome and annoying as a writing tool. So as I browse, I will note threads I want to reply to. Then, the next time I’m on my computer, I’ll compose a reply. Sometimes that’s a few hours later, sometimes the next day.
But the happy consequence of that process is that, by the time I get on the computer, my knee-jerk emotions have died down. I often find that I no longer care enough to make a post, or someone else has already made the point I wanted to make (often @Joe_5859), or the thread became a mess was deleted (I always feel like I dodged a time-wasting bullet when that happens).
