I was discussing the date of Christmas with a baptist friend and he brought up an interesting theory.
Everyone has heard that the church chose dec 25 because of the pagan celibrating the solces. (sorry not a good speller). However here is his theory.
Zacharias, the father of John the Baptist was at the offering of incense and sacrfice ( his priestly duties), That is Yom Kippar. which falls either later sept or early october…
then Gabriel visits the Virgin Mary, to anouncee the upcoming birth of Jesus, and says " Your cousin Elizibeth is 6 months Pregenet. Do the math…six months fron later sept is the later part of march, nine months from then is the later part of december…mmmmmmm
