Don’t hold your breath. Our liberal bishop (TLM is forbidden, he says, as long as he is bishop) is over 75 and he hasn’t been replaced yet. However, I will say that one person in this diocese discovered a way to get his attention. The local Catholic grade school was told by the chancery that they must use a, well, obscene religion series (the obscenity was in the teachers’ manual. The childrens’ texts were merely indifferent to Catholicism) written by a pro-abortion priest. The fellow objected to the pastor, but was told the chancery religious director was the only person who could approve a change. He called the religious director, a “nun” in mufti who told him very curtly that it was impossible. He asked to talk to the bishop. He was (upon calling again) told the bishop would not talk to him. He went to the Knights of Columbus in the parish, showed them the texts, and got them behind him. He then informed the “nun” that if the text was not withdrawn, the Knights were going to start picketing the chancery within the week. It was withdrawn-in our parish only. It’s terrible to have to do things like that, but sometimes things like that are what are required.

Well I have now emailed the Pope. I have no idea if he actually has the time to read my email. If he does, I hope that he sends a reply. But nonetheless, I feel a lot better about doing that.

Then, he says “As goblins and ghouls, let us profess our faith. Our Father…”
He then leaves before the final blessing to change into a Barney costume.

The parish apparently had just moved and had been meeting for “Mass” in a multi-purpose meeting hall before the church was commisioned.
I had hopes that what I was seeing was a contrived video to slap the NO around by some well meaning if misguided person, but unfortunetly my hopes were not to be fullfilled. Their parish website has their weekly bulletines available and the one dated Oct 22 has an annoucement letting everyone know that they are welcome to come to “Mass” in constume and that there would be special treats.
I am blessed in that I have not seen any overtly abusive actions in a Mass, and I have been to many many parishes all over the country. In fact one of the more beautiful ones I went to wqas in Aliso Viejo, CA. The priest was a soft spoken Vietnamese man who had a fantastic voice and sung most of the Liturgy.

I’m not going to wade through all the posts here, simply because I don’t have the time.
We in the UK are shocked at this Hallowe’en ‘‘Mass’’ that was offered by Fr Fred Bailey of Orange County.
We were even more shocked, when watching the video, that none of the congregation walked out. Had this been in the UK, you can bet that this would never have happened.
He ad-libbed most of what we could watch. Was the Mass even valid? We can’t be sure that it wasn’t. However, the doubt is there.
It’s nice to know, also, that elsewhere in the world, people have emailed and written to Cardinal Arinze regarding this.
Has the priest ever heard of Redemptionis Sacramentum? What on earth was he doing, plonking himself down in a chair, before Holy Communion had finished? Why were there EMHCs even distributing Holy Communion there in the first place? It was obvious that, given the size of the congregation, there was no need for them.
To those who say: ‘It’s Orange County, what do you expect?’ - that attitude is simply not good enough really. It’s a Catholic Church with a Catholic congregation with a Priest who is charged with the pastoral care of their souls. This priest needs challenging. He may even be ‘not well’
My apologies if my post sounds harsh, but we all have a duty not to shrug our shoulders and to report it.
I pray for the Priest concerned. But especially for his parishioners.

True. The real traditionalists are not the problem. They’re the ones in the Church, working with the conservative Catholics to bring sanity back into the parts of the Church that are out there.
The fake ones (like SSPX, SSPV, and other schismatic groups) are a problem, though.

I watched the video last night with my daughter, 27 years old, who is sad to say not a practicing Catholic at this time. After watching the video she looked at me and said, “you know that was in really bad taste. And you wonder why I stopped going to Mass”

Horrible. Simply horrible. I am shocked ant amazed at the audactiy of this priest to “celebrate” such a moronic travesty of a mass, if it even a mass. I fear the streets of hell may find a Barney costume somewhere in it.

For those newly arrived at Corpus Christi since last October 31st you may not be aware of our most wonderful celebration of Halloween on the weekend PRIOR to October 31st…which this year will be NEXT weekend, October 28-29. In anticipation of All Hallows Eve parishioners are invited to come to Mass in costume (yep…that means adults AND kids). In addition, families/individuals are invited to carve a family Fred-O’Lantern (related to Jack but a lot more fun) for placement around the altar. Special treats (and very few tricks) will be available to the young and young at heart at all the Masses.
In addition, let the wondering and guessing begin as to who or what FKB will become at the end of Mass; final clue: I love you, you love me. While some church communities scare their members with silly talk of Halloween being devil worship and other such nonsense, we Catholic-Christians
understand that All Hallows Eve is the EVE of All Saint’s Day, an autumn celebration that honors our spiritual heritage. Secure in our knowledge of Jesus’ resurrection we are able to poke fun at the things that used to scare us and see them for the empty threats they always were. Our God is
not threatened by carved vegetables; rather, he delights in a parish family that comes together in worship, fun and frolic.

Which is EXACTLY the Devil’s gameplan!
Because, once you start believing that the Devil is nothing but a ‘myth’ he can then further his work, without hindrance.
