Cool, what’s the title? I’ll keep an eye out for it.
Let me hold back on that. When it becomes available, I will probably make a self-promoting post when it becomes available. But since my name will be on the cover, I would probably prefer to do that in a way that maintains my anonymity on this forum.

**
I encourage all to read the story of Gianna Beretta Molla.**

Oh, I know the story very well. That is why I prayed to her when my Dr. told on more than one occasion to have an abortion. That is why I prayed to her when I was being wheeled into an operating room to have an emergency c-section because they couldn’t find my son’s heart beat and I was bleeding internally. That is why I try to live a life dedicated to my son. I think the real selfish act would be for me to try to have another child and leave my son motherless. I am not willing to do that just because you think I should.

…and VERY uncharitable I did not make this comment and I think you misunderstood it. I really feel that you are the uncharitable one here. Who are you to make those of us using NFP feel like we are somehow “bad” Catholics for doing so? My husband and I pray about using NFP often and have consulted Priests on the subject. I feel completely as ease with our decision. This does NOT make us bad Catholics, bad people or bad parents. God alone can judge us based on this choice…how dare you try to do His job for Him.

God is the one we trust and the one we rely on. He has blest us with one amazing son and I am so thankful for that, I am also so thankful for the life I will witness, for the lessons I will be able to teach him and love I will be able to give him.
I have NEVER said that you should or shouldn’t do anything. I merely encouraged people to read about Saint Gianna. I offered NO personal opinion about it whatsoever.
If you (or anyone using NFP) feels like a “bad Catholic” for doing so…that is something within yourself…I have never said, nor implied that about anyone…

As for consulting priests…that doesn’t always work…some priests are very holy and adhere to the Magesterium…others…well…I know couples who have had priests consult and advise them to have VASECTOMIES…so…God bless you if you have a good and holy priest…pray for those who do not.

Please do not insult me by accusing me of trying to do God’s job.
Again, if you feel that about what I’ve written, that is within you. I’m sorry you feel that way. I do not believe that I have been uncharitable in any way…if I have, then I apologize to whomever has taken my words that way.

And to the poster about “rabbits”:…I did not say that your words were directed toward me in particular…but I did say that I had trouble with rabbits being used in comparison to people as I had been insulted that way in public…your original post about “we are not rabbits” had an implication (that I might have read into the post without justification) that we should not reproduce time after time, and that those who do are like rabbits…again, perhaps I read something that wasn’t there… 🙂

Once again, if it is so unCatholic to not have as many chiildren as one can then I guess I am unCatholic because I deliberately don’t choose marriage and therefore don’t have children. The remarks here astound me. Outside of ABC and abortion let everyone choose for themselves how many children they will or won’t have. There is no devil in the Catholic Church.

I want to read it, too! 👍

Well, I don’t know if you have all just agreed to disagree or what…but I have just a few final things to say…

First, It is never our jobs as human to judge. Therefore it is not our place to call anyone “uncatholic” because you do not know everyone’s situation or what has happened in their lives to get them where they are today. We do not know what is in their heart’s or soul’s.

Second, I feel that this “friendly” debate has gotten slightly out of hand, and so, I am sorry if anyone has felt offended by what I posted. It was never my intention to offend, simply to let you all know there are “good” Catholics out there that do have good reasons to use NFP(whether you see it or not).

Third, rpp…I would also be very interested in reading your book…make sure you let us all know about the release date!

And finally, I hope everyone here has a very blessed Easter season with their families (no matter how big or how small!)

More importantly than having our fellow Catholics agree with us about whether we have a large family or whether we use NFP to naturally space our children, is that we have the blessings of the Holy Father and the magisterium of the Church.

The bible, when quoted without the guidance of the Church, is open to misinterpretation. We know this from the wildly different interpretations among our Protestant friends, including those who contracept.

John Paul II spoke to American bishops on the urgency of doing more to preach natural family planning on September 24, 1983:
“A special and important part of your ministry to families has to do with natural family planning. The number of couples successfully using the natural methods is constantly growing. But much more concerted effort is needed.”

And on October 9, 1983 to couples:
“As spouses the Creator calls you to procreation: to responsible procreation. To assume in marriage the task of responsible parenthood means to cooperate consciously with the Creator’s action…This means to discern the rhythms of human fertility and to regulate your parenthood according to these rhythms.”

Thesis: The Devil is in the Catholic Church

My response: Technically true.

The Church is composed of humans. Humans (except for Mary) have always been burdened with Original Sin and the very human inclination to sin. Hence, the Devil sneaks his way into everything touched by human hand, including the Church. This was true even when Jesus walked among us- consider Judas!

First, It is never our jobs as human to judge.
Maybe i missed a few posts (?) but i don’t recall anyone sounding judgmental… Saying that there are too few big families in the Church these days is not judging anyone… It isn’t even judging large groups of anonymous, unspecified individuals… It is just an observation

we as mere mortals cannot see the bigger picture as God can.
So true…

I started to respond to this post earlier but got interrupted, so it didn’t make sense… :whacky: had to go do something…

Anyway… I feel that it is precisely because we cannot see the big picture that we need to trust God about all things… whether it is how mnay children to have or whatever…
we cannot know His plan for us and worry and fret over things that prevent us from doing what He has truly willed for us
This hit a note w/ me because i am very confused @ this time about what i am supposed to be doing exactly… I feel that most of waht i do these days is probably just what is “in front of me” rather than what God really wants…(?) but i am learning & that’s what counts… i guess…
Sometimes… No, often, i feel i am “missing the boat”. But then, maybe there is more than one boat coming for me.😃

Anyway, one thing i am not confused about is that all human beings should obey the Church God established here on Earth… to the best of his/her ability.🙂
