some of things pointed out in the book need to change.
I found this excerpt from the “Dictator Pope”, describing the openly homosexual Msgr. Battista Ricci’s appointment as the Prelate of the IOR (Vatican Bank), to be particularly disturbing:

Footnote 56: These events were described in full by Sandro Magister in the article “Il prelato del lobby gay” in L’Espresso, 18 June 2013.

That is horrible, I didn’t know that story. That makes sense, the media made a big deal about it and made it seem like the Pope was saying “who am I to judge any gay person for homosexual acts?”, which may not be too far from the truth.

Whether he keeps morally weak persons to control them or not is an interesting question. It is kind of blackmail though if he is using their weaknesses to control them in a way.

I don’t know, I just hope that the Pope fulfills his promises and cleans up corruption, and makes sure that that kind of behavior is not happening in the Vatican.

At this point I really don’t feel too compelled to weigh in one way or the other in this debate, but I did feel a little better about AL after reading the letter to the Argentine’s.

I do think it is important to keep in mind that Francis is the head of state for the Vatican. He does have to wear two hats though, head of the Catholic Church AND the head of State. A head of state from time to time does have to inspire a little fear now and then, or he isn’t worth his salt.

I am watching all of this, but the part it plays in my life as a Catholic, is really small potatoes.

something to hide
I wonder if anyone will get their hands on the elusive “Kolvenbach Report”
I am sure if there is anything to this, of course it will be available. Such is the age we live in. Privacy is difficult and losing information, more so. On the other hand, is anyone interested in providing the report? That is the better question. I do not see why the Pope would want to release it. I do not see why his detractors would want it released. I just looked it up. It seems the specter of the report is more useful to an anti-papal agenda, as anything can be claimed and no context provided.
Sarah’s name is the only one. have heard repeatedly… with his African roots, considering the Africn church has been experiencing he expansion it has been, and his orthodoxy and love of traditional liturgy, I would love to see him fill the seat of Peter…
I really like Cardinal Sarah, but I do not think for one second that if he were pope, he too would be under attack. It is part and parcel with the office. There would be those both outside and inside the Church that would try and discredit him at every turn. For example, the one who is the wolf in the fold, living in sin, stealing, whatever, would not like a reformer. So if other sin is acceptable, why not a little petty revenge, lying, slander, etc. All one needs do is muddy the waters to create scandal.

Or they could publish a “tell all” book under a false name. I guess I am saying I am really surprise more people here do not see this should be taken with a grain of salt. Sometimes the simplest answer is actually right.

Pope Francis is a Jesuit…

Let’s be real here folks, the real reason the Pope wants to track the author down is so he can send a Jesuit hit squad to take care of him.

I have a feeling the author is gonna be getting a visit from this guy any day now:

False name or not, the claims are substantiated.

Begging the question, and quite a matter of opinion. But then if you consider them substantial, I guess I would think that you would be the type to think they are substantial, and never notice the circle this creates.

It makes perfect sense. The role of the papacy does not extend after the death of the Pope. There will still be only one person on the Great White Throne.

Well I read it several times, and I did not find anything alarming. Truthfully, it was written VERY carefully. I could not find anything that crossed any red lines. I kept looking for something, and couldn’t find anything. Now as is true with anything, someone might take what is written and drag it across a red line, but that would be their doing, not what I read in the document.

As a convert I find this all extremely troubling. I was always under the impression that the Pope could not change doctrine and morals… The old saying even if the Pope wanted he couldn’t declare a new person of divinity in the Trinity, like wise for morals. Yet, here we are now being told that adultery is not always adultery. That marriage is not always indissoluble. Etc.

It is very troubling and I don’t know what to make of it. I thought I left this confusion I was used to as an Anglican when I converted to catholicism. Not embraced a trajectory that had already been undertaken and proven disastrous. I will not read it myself for this reason, and why I had to stop following trad and conservative blogs.

This detailed set of events and circumstances are deeply disturbing and lap up so close to the ‘shores’ of the current pope.

So much for reform and housekeeping.

The God of surprises indeed. Deeply troubling.

Holy Mary, guide us.

No, the Pope cannot change doctrine or morals in any way that is a contradiction to doctrine. No, we are not being told that adultery is not always adultery, nor are we being told that marriage is not indissoluble. Those that say that have either not read Amoris Laetitia, or are lying. As someone to provide a direct quote, for such a wild claim. Here is just one quote from the document, though it is stated several times.
Marriage joins to all this an indissoluble exclusivity expressed in the stable commitment to share and shape together the whole of life.

Given that the author doesn’t use his real name,
I would guess that it is another disgruntled you know what…
Those people, if they are people, are the only ones constantly
complaining and everyone more noteworthy than
them.
For whom is the word dictator the ultimate insult?
So obvious.

I’ve been part of a church that made all kinds of pastoral concessions. I know first hand what disastrous outcome awaits

What “awaits” and what the future holds still is not what is, nor does it justify spreading something untrue based on one’s own personal precognitive abilities. Doctrine has not changed. Saying the pope will be changing doctrine is slander.
