Way to dodge your obvious bias when pretending dishonesty bothers you. How do you expect to discuss something like one group of voters ability to overlook something when literally doing the same thing? Unless you agreed that the ACA was sold on false pretenses, which would at least be consistent.

Way to dodge your obvious bias ignore obvious baiting.
Fixed it for you.

I assume you voted for and support Trump and his plan to have the US pay for the wall? If so, please explain why this plan isn’t a direct contradiction of his campaign promise.

I voted for trump and supported the wall in any way we got it. I put as much stock in his campaign rhetoric as I did Obama or Romney. Likewise, my ACA opposition was not tied to his false claims. In both cases, I pretty much kept going with how I felt.

I just question the inconsistency. If you oppose the wall regardless of his Mexico claims, then that is just a smokescreen to attack the wall behind, the same way it would have been with the ACA.

There isn’t much to discuss on either side unless people are willing to admit both lies (if that is what you believe them to be) bothered them.

That would be USDA. They’re the ones who inspect meat production, not FDA. I’m not sure who dislikes FDA or USDA, either one.

Of course, USDA workers salaries don’t come from the government. They’re paid by the processor.

So I’m just trying to understand: you knew he was lying but didn’t mind because you were in favor of the wall no matter how it might be constructed and who might pay for it?

I had no idea whether or not Mexico would pay for it. Like I said, I didn’t really care, and I didn’t even vote for him because of the wall; I just happened to support him and that idea, that had little to do with my vote

Did you know Obama was lying when he made claims about the ACA? No point in continuing of this is going to be one-sided admissions.

No point in not discussing a topic that isn’t part of the thread’s focus? 🤔

But thank you for your explanation.

Sorry, I assumed wrongly apparently that by you making claims about trump voters not minding lying that you found that odd or bothersome. I simply questioned calling out trump voters when those who supported Obama did the same thing.

So why did you single out Trump voters to cast aspersions on, I guess? Seems a bit unfair, dont you agree?

First, I don’t believe I “cast aspersions” on Trump voters. Instead, I asked why Trump voters don’t feel betrayed as their candidate apparently lied to them. You’ve explained that you don’t care that Trump lied. Second, I understand you’re bothered by what you believe is hypocrisy. I’m not sure what to tell you on that front, as Obama and the ACA are a diversion from the topic at hand.

Everyone can see it is “a diversion” because it is an inconvenient analog for Obama voters. But if you cant admit that, we can move on, since folks reading can decide for themselves anyway.

I really need someone to explain this to me. Trump ran on the promise that Mexico would pay for the wall. Now our government is shut down because he’s demanding US funding for the wall. Why is anyone supporting him in this?
He also said he would sign the budget Congress gave him. The answer I get is that honesty is not as important as abortion.

Who said I was an Obama voter? Just trying to have a conversation on one topic without the usual “what about” questions. 🤷‍♀️

Guess we can move on.

And really, it seems that abortion isn’t really that important when it comes down to it.

I didn’t say you supported either guy, just why you called out Trump voters, and didn’t, at least from memory do that with any other group of voters. Hillary, Obama, or anyone really. It speaks to an agenda beyond expecting honesty from a politician.

And I actually answered for myself; cant speak to any other Trump voter
I figured having done that, a question wasn’t out of line, since that happens in pretty much every topic on here. You chose not to answer, and that’s fine.

That is probably true for the majority of Republicans, or the guy with a sketchy anti-abortion record would not have been nominated over proven and life-long anti-abortion record. However, he gained support from going against the likes of Hillary Clinton on this front. In that light, he was an angel on the issue of abortion, and only the worst of two on integrity.

Thank you for the analysis of my motives.

Now back to the thread’s topic.
