My, my, aren’t we holier than the Duggars?

Gossip threads are so sad.
That was innappropriate. monicatholic was simply giving her thoughts on the whole thing. She did not, once, make herself out to be “holier than thou”.
I think your comment was rude and not needed.

I was just thinking the same thing as you posted. I wasn’t going to post, but I want monicatholic** to know that not all of us think she came across so negatively.

dear PatienceAndLove and Malia,

I thank you for kindness.

May God bless all the Catholic Answers posters and their families in these final days of Advent.

I didn’t read every response. It reminds me of a show on TLC perhaps…“Jon and Kate plus 8” about a couple with a set of twins and a set of sextuplets. All I can say is “not for me” . The show was interesting. However the one thing I didn’t like was the fact that Kate wanted a tummy tuck to “look nice for Jon” It just so happened a NY plastic surgeon’s wife was watching the show…long story …short version. She got her tummy tuck and a makeover to “look nice for Jon” I’d like a tummy tuck too. Suppose I can get one??
Monica, I applaud you outspokenness. Stick to your guns. You weren’t saying anything I bet more than a few of us wish we had said…me included. Funny thing…when a woman speaks her mind she is labeled as something less than desirable. When a man does, he is high fived and everything. Don’t you change and have a Merry Christmas.

I love the Jon & Kate show. I love how they are so REAL. They appear just like any other family, even with all of those kids. I love how they’re not afraid to bicker in the trenches of family life, instead of hiding it for the cameras and making it out like their some kind of “perfect” family.

And I can’t really blame her for wanting a tummy tuck. After carrying 6 babies in my belly, I would jump at the chance for somebody to fix it for free. That’s a lot of skin left-over. 😃

I love love love the Jon and Kate show! I love those little kiddies.🙂

That’s what I was thinking re: the tummy tuck. I can’t blame her one bit- how is that any different from a formerly morbidly obese person wanting to get rid of the excess skin folds?

I love that show. The kids are so, SO cute, and yes, the family does seem very real. I was in awe of the episode where Kate went grocery shopping for the week. I want her to teach me how she does it!

No, you know what’s rude? Posting a thread dedicated to nitpicking apart the way some lady, whom you’ve never met, chooses to live her family life.

Perhaps your original inclination not to post would’ve been the more prudent one.

Huh? Where did that even come from? That was just bizarre, no offense…

I’d have the same exact opinion if a guy had written this post, and can’t see where you read any battle-of-the-sexes issues into anything, but, hey, whatever floats your boat, babe.

Since many of the women on here are the mothers of large families, it would make sense that a large family that is famous for their size would be discussed.
The Duggers put their lives on exhibition and have allowed themselves to be photographed, videotaped and interviewed so much that no portion of their lives is private anymore. They have a website chronicling their parenting style, their lifestyle and their worship style. Therefore, they are free to be discussed on public forums. If you don’t want to be part of the discussion, don’t post in the thread and unsubscribe from it.

Well goodness, if people can’t take a something like Ronnette’s comment maybe they should also feel free not to post in the thread and unsubscribe from it too, after all they place a comment out in the thread on exhibition in this public forum. Please a little charity.

I’m sorry, but the comment comparing the Dugger’s feeling towards their children is like children who have too many Christmas presents to me seems very uncharitable. Even if they have placed themselves in the public eye, doesn’t mean that everyone knows the heart of the Duggers. It to me seems ironic that people here complain when they get stray comments that sound like back-handed ill-meaning criticism of their large family, then seem to make comments in the same vein about this family assuming they know the exact intentions of the parents and children. A large family may give you some insight, but you ought to know better than thinking your insight is impeccable.

Ok, I can see where you all are coming from, but I hope we can all let this drop before this thread gets closed. We’ve all made our points, let’s move on.

**Maybe you should also consider prudence when you post. My intent was to support a fellow Catholic/woman/mom in stating her opinion. She is a homeschooling mom of ten who probably has the most right to comment on other large families because she is living that reality. I saw nothing rude in her post. But I do find some of your posts rude and pointless…like you just have to tear someone else down. . . Perhaps a little prayer before you put fingers to keyboard may help?

I hope this uncharitableness doesn’t get this thread shut down. I see nothing wrong with discussing PUBLIC figures. The Duggars chose to become public and we should be allowed to discuss what we see/know/hear just like we do about anything else public.

So, because many of you have tons of kids, you’re excused for being total witches towards someone else who happens to have that in common with you? Nice logic.

Because they’re public figures, that also excuses you for being utter witches toward the woman, because it’s somehow different than snarking about your next-door neighbor?

I have no intention of quitting the thread. Why don’t you?

P.S. Your screenname, “PatienceAndLove”, just screams irony.

You are truly one of the most utterly self-righteous people I have ever met, Internet or real-life.

As far as “uncharitableness” (cool new word coinage, there 😃 )…

You should talk, known to criticize the mentally ill on some posts, and write whole new threads ranting your head off about how your neighbors are traumatizing your baby by just trick-or-treating on Halloween night and making a little noise…ov vey, talk about someone who needs something better to do…

This place is the cliquiest little coffee klatch of Stepford Wives I’ve ever seen. Sad!

Excuse me?
No one here was acting like a “witch” I made a comment, as did others, on what we had seen. We obviously do not know their hearts, but can make assumptions based on things that they have said and done.

As for my SN- part of it is to remind me to use those virtues. I am human, and I fail. Thank you for reminding me that I need to work harder.

🤷 oh well…

spell check didn’t highlight it so I doubt it’s my word

I have never criticized the mentally ill!

until you walk a day in my shoes (and a night with my DD) I don’t think it is your place to talk. I made it very clear that I wanted to do what was best for my baby AND be nice to the neighbors…which i did by taking the very HELPFUL suggestion of putting a bowl of candy out so they could help themselves. Maybe you should try to be more helpful with your posts? Talk about being a witch… **

ov vey, talk about someone who needs something better to do…

**Yet you just can’t seem to find anything better to do…that’s sad. I come here because I like it. I get advice, opinions, support, prayers, new ideas, and the occassion to help others with my experiences. If you hate it so much why bother? Talk about someone who needs something better to do…
