You’re absolutely right. There ARE Catholics who see things a bit differently than I do. Unfortunately, many of them are misrepresenting the Church.

There are many dissident Catholics and some that are just plain heretical or heterodox. Some may even believe in the false, self-refuting notion of Sola Scriptura. You can open up the Catechism of the Catholic Church and expose many of them.
**Like I said before - a person who claims to be Catholic - yet rejects the Churches dogmatic positions - is a Protestant. **

I don’t do that.
**I only give the Church’s position on anything involving faith and morals. In other words - I parrot the Truth of Christ.

If his truth offends you - that’s not my problem.

You don’t offend me. I do feel sad for you. I hope you are correct about speaking for Jesus because if you are not, you misrepresent Jesus. Not a good idea, wouldn’t you agree?

Please reconcile the existence of voluntary Catholic converts with your previous statement:

My quote in question was directed to Elvis and his response to me.

Therefore, there is NO reason to reconcile a voluntary catholic convert to my statement.

Well, you are the one who analogized the Catholic Church’s catechetical practices to Soviet education. You can’t say things like that on a forum like this without getting called on it, and you were.

The apostles did not reject him…the fact that they were afraid of him implied he spoke with authority of some kind.

Exiling him…I was drawing on my own pastor’s reflection on St Paul a month or so ago…he confronted the apostles and this alienated them…they put him off was the more correct term.

Ss Peter and Paul hold the keys to the Church – Jew and Gentile. The papacy holds the key to the Blood of Christ.

The Church sees Christ as in mystery as faith itself is mystery. Words, traditions, rites, actions…all are trying to use human terms that which is mystical that transcends…

I think we need to make it clear that all churches have tradition, even those that claim sola scriptura. All of them have classes where children are taught that, for example, they have to go to church on Sunday in a church building. Where is that in the Bible?

Paul had to be tested to see if he was for real, just like anyone else. As he said:

I have met people I initially was afraid of. They ended up teaching me something. Because I had some issues. The apostles rejected anyone who thought they had an ‘in’ with Jesus.

My pastor is very faithful to the universal faith. I usually am still asleep or have to come in later…so it happens at times that I walk in after he has begun.

If St. Paul was not sent by Jesus to the Apostles, he would not have gotten anywhere.

The Church was, through, the Apostles founded by Christ and sustained by the Holy Spirit, who at the Epiclesus turns the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, Who forgives sins, heals, directs, sanctifies.

Cruisin, If the Catholic Church was not founded by Jesus Christ, like Paul, we wouldn’t be here…or you!

You can’t prove anything with one Bible remark against another…we already know them. You are missing the whole testimony of the Church in how the Word of God was incarnated among the believers, and what happened with each generation.

Oh, and also…

Emphasis on “not a neophyte”, i.e. “he must not be a recent convert” (NRSV), which Paul was.
