it happened when I was alseep this morning, so we didn’t feel anything. Although we are pretty far from where it happened, we still may be close enough to feel it if it were bad enough - well, a few minutes ago, I swear my chair (as I am on the forum here) started trembling, and the glass with juice swishing aroung, I looked and my blinds were swaying :bigyikes:

I slept through it, too, but I haven’t felt any aftershocks. We are about 100 miles from the epicenter.
 
Hi. I live in the Southeast Suburbs of Chicago, and did not feel a thing this morning, but, of course, I was fast asleep when it hit! I was surprised to hear that the Tribune Tower in downtown Chicago reported to have felt the quake since it happened 230 miles South of the city!
 
I just felt an aftershock about fifteen min. ago.

I slept through the event, but my 7yr. old woke up.
 
okay, well I called the local station and they said they are getting calls and they have already heard yes there was an earthquake and it was a 4.5!!! EEK
 
Yep- the last one was 20 min. ago. It registered 4.5 according to the USGS.

Where are you , Pinkyyyy? (generally, you don’t have to give us your EXACT location, obviously!)
 
I am on the illinois/Iowa border about 2 hours away from the Chicago suburbs. I will mapquest it and then let you know in terms of miles
 
we are 314 miles from the epicenter (SP). Weird that we could feel it so far away!
 
I’m in northwest Indiana (right on the southern tip of lake Michigan) and I haven’t felt anything. My mom said she felt the one early this morning, woke her up due to her bed shaking.
 
The first one at 4:30 shook my house and woke two of my kids; I slept through it :rolleyes: . The second one the aftershock or whatever never reached up here…I’m about 230 miles from the center…
 
I live about 700 miles from the EC, and no I didn’t feel anything. But I have made an observation - actually 2.

It is a beautiful day about 67, sunny and only a random cloud and yet I have not seen (or heard) one bird, squirrel, chipmunk, rabbit - anything.

Second - my cat spent about an hour this morning wondering from room to room all fluffed up, making this sad, I am a scaredy cat, meow.

Woke me up this morning. We felt it pretty good. We live about 100 miles from epicenter. Our 118 year old Victorian squeaked like an old metal bed 😛 DH said the animals were acting strange when he woke up at 4:30 (we are in eastern time so it happened at 5:36 our time). They usually don’t get up with him that early. He said the dog was REALLY nervous this morning and wanted to keep going outside, guess he knew something was coming.
Hard to tell if we really have felt the aftershocks, seems like every time they happen a truck is driving down the road.
Nothing as bad as when I lived in CA.

Now that you mention it, the birds have been pretty quiet here today, too. I’m in Michigan, and I felt the quake (I actually started a thread about it earlier in the “back fence” section). My cats were perfectly calm throughout, which really surprised me. They get really antsy when a storm is brewing. 🤷
 
I felt it… 152 miles away… my ds is about 130 miles away and he felt it… said his bed moved an inch.
 
I’m on the east side of Cincinnati and it woke me up this morning. I was half awake because my cats were acting really weird and then I realized the house was shaking.
 
I slept through it in St. Louis. The guy who sits across the aisle from me at work fell out of bed. And he’s a big guy!

Then around 10:15 there was one big shake here, and we all felt that.
