Bear with me a minute. Did they ever make the claim that all members of the Governing Body were in the 144,000?

I think you will see why this changed…
Yes, I do see why it has changed which is why I’m interested to know what their thinking is now on how everyone is going to physically live on earth during the millenial reign. If everyone had an acre of ground by their reckoning in the 80’s, how many have to date died and how much ground would they have now? Any answer to that?

I have never worded the question this way to a witness. I never got that far with them because when get close to this topic they tell me to go back to the Whore of Babylon and good luck with it.

So is everyone else on this forum.🙂

We better not hold our breath. I wonder how much time it will take to “clean up the earth”

Thats how much time it will take for us to get a straight answer!

I cant go on their word as to what is false religion if they cant prove to me they are the true religion.

They cant prove they have an accurate bible.
They cant prove to have existed until how long ago?

Why should I go any farther than that?

That is the first 2 signs of a false religion!

They actually said that to you? Good grief! :nope:

I may not be aware of all the various methods of evangelization, but saying something like that to a person isn’t exactly going to encourge him/her listen to them with an open mind.

If someone were to say such a terrible and uncharitable thing to me, I have to confess; I’d wind up losing my temper. 😦

Really; what a horrible thing to say to you. 😦

God Bless you and yours!

Well, lets face it. JW’s have never been noted for diplomacy. Yes, in the past you could say the same in relation to the Catholic Church but at least on the face of it they seemed to have learned from the errors of the past (I refer to using force to convert people) and would not in this day and age condone the use of force. ‘Proof’ that God refines his Church. A refusal to acknowledge past failures is and change the methods we use to draw people to Christ is evidence that the grace of God has not penetrated.

regarding the person who said that it’s all about interpretation. That’s NOT what it’s about. It’s about what the Bible SAYS. Not you, me or anyone else for that matter.

First. The bible says that God would use one earthly organization to accomplish his purposes. That’s not saying he only loves them. It’s just that those are the only ones that is acceptable to him. He desires all to worship him in a way that is acceptable to him. Not what’s acceptable to our own wishes. Which leads me to my next thought. In history proven history, the Catholic Encyclopedia states that it’s own ideas ARE made up. It also took out gods name out of the Bible. This can all be proven.

Also, do you people even read the Bible. What they are doing is exactly what history shows in the Bible, can’t you see that? Many times people were warned the same way and not believed and laughed at, but to their demise. They were destroyed because they didn’t want to hear it. All I ever seem to read is what everyones opinions are, not what Gods opinion is. At least I did my homework and gave facts not opinions.

Dear JONE,
for someone who has done his homework, as you boastfully claim, you have failed to cite us one reference that we can check for ourselves. You mentioned that the Catholic Encyclopedia allegedly admits that Catholic doctrines are made up. Well, if you’ve done your homework you ought to provide us with the volume, page number and paragraph number, in the Catholic Encyclopedia, where we can find this earth-shattering admission.

You have not given us any facts, only your assertions.
God said he would use only one Organization to accomplish his purposes. Okay, WHERE in Scripture did God say that that Organization would be the Watchtower Society which would predict in His name that Armageddon would occur in 1874, 1875, 1914, 1915, 1918, 1920, 1925, somewhere during World War Two, then 1975 ??? Don’t lie to me and claim your beloved Watchtower Society didn’t make those predictions, because they DID. They lie about having made such prediction today, they lie to you. By biblical standards, they are accursed false prophets many times over.

The Catholic Church did NOT remove God’s name from the Bible.
The Catholic Church in the early years, like the apostles, used the SEPTUAGINT version of the Old Testament, and it did NOT contain a spelled-out version of the Divine Name, it used the word LORD in all those places where the Divine Name once was.
The Divine Name, Yahweh, simply means I AM.
There is no other in the universe but Yahweh who can rightfully say “I AM.” I AM means God is self-existant. That is why the Jews tried to stone Jesus in John 8:58 when he said, “Truly I tell you, before Abraham ever came to be, I AM.” They took up stones to stone him for saying that because they knew what he was saying. And he didn’t deny one bit of it, he simply left the area.

Jehovah’s Witnesses simply are clueless when it comes to CORRECTLY understanding Holy Scripture, and they are doubly-clueless when it comes to Church History and what the Christians LONG BEFORE CONSTANTINE, believed in.
The early Christians were Catholic. You can read the Early Church Fathers for yourself and see that for yourself. Just Google Early Church Fathers and have a go at it.

I doubt you will do that, if you are currently a JW.
JWs don’t love the Truth, they love their Organization and their self-righteous fingerpointing and slamming of every other religion n earth except themselves. “THEY this and THEY that, and CHRISTENDOM this, and WICKED OLD CHRISTENDOM that.”
Do some real homework before you come onto these forums, which are frequented by EDUCATED Catholics, making ludicrous and false claims. Please. Otherwise, you appear foolish.
God bless,
Jaypeeto4 (aka Jaypeeto3)

Welcome Jone!

I have not been watching this thread and had unsubsribed yet I noted some new developments and peeked in to say hello.

I agree the Bible is so important!🙂 And not about what you, or I or individuals say about it.

Tell me what it says then.

One Earthly organization. Um, yes. I dont recall the word organization in the Bible but I am open to hearing where it is so we can dialouge.

I for one am not laughing at anyone here. I am hoping you will come back with a backup from the Bible to your statements, and look forward to it.

I happen to LOVE reading the Bible.

Please help us out.

May Jehovah aid in your efforts here.🙂

I would have to say Jone, you have a strange way of talking about God. Only a certain group of people are acceptable to God? Your statement infers that God won’t play with you unless you measure up to his expectations. We are his children, not toys that he throws out of the cot when we cease to please him. It humanizes God and God is not human and if salvation was dependant on being acceptable, no one is going to heaven. I have also never read the word organization in the Bible and yes, I do read it. No doubt you have been told that Catholics don’t read the Bible and as a result, you have sterotyped everyone here. How could you know if people read the Bible or not and how can you assume that because they are Catholic, or because they don’t come up with the same conclusions you do they have not read it? Followers of Christ were asked to preach the message of salvation through Christ. Your statement infers, join our club or God will kill you, laugh at us and God will kill you, let’s not dress it up with the word destroy. In order to have the divine message contained in the scriptures revealed, we must first look to Christ and be open to the Holy Spirit which guides us. It is revealed by God and not men, a biblical statement which the Catholic Church preaches. Perhaps if you look more in the direction of Christ and not an organization, you would not be so angry when people disagree with you and loose the desire to see them killed for it. I am certainly not of the opinion that God sends people to hell for disagreeing with me, or even the Catholic Church. Do you really know what Catholics believe? Considering their point of view does not mean you have to convert. Consider what love your enemies actually means.

Sorry, just wanted to add. Does God have opinions? As Almighty God, infinite, does he need one?

I’ll write these reactions into one reply. I am looking for the scripture that Damascus requested. I will get back to you on that, my family just walked in. These scriptures will also support that point. 1 Cor 1:10
John4:23,24
Ephesians4:4,5
Mathew7?13,14
These are a few to chew on. And no I never said I was a Jehova.
I have been studying and researching like you all. God does say that not all who call on him would be answered and that faith without works is dead. So we can all talk, but if we don’t show fruits that harmonize with what he wants, then yes, we could be destroyed. He loves all, but has destroyed ones in the past. He also showed he didn’t want to have to do that and gave them many chances to comply. That does not mean that I wish anyone dead. Be reasonable. I am merely saying what history in the bible tells us. No one is better. But yes he has requirements we have to meet.

My apologies it wasn’t Damascus I meant to say but Jaypee. You have a nasty way of talking. I don’t know what those years mean, that is not familiar to me. I do not respond to rude and pointless behaviour. Jesus did not talk like that unless he had reason to be angry. YOU HOWEVER DO NOT. So I will by pass anything you say unless you speak in a non argumentative way.

So minky murph. Do you go and preach the way Jesus did. Do you follow his example and dedicate all your time into reaching people to reason with them? Besides the computer. Because the computer is not teaching it is talking and debating.

John 4:23, 24 (By the way- John is a great book!!! good choice!!!)

Too bad the WHOLE book is not read properly:(

Let’s start with what you have cited in John----

“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for such the Father seeks to worship him”

(I will accept the use of Jehovah here for all intensive purposes- re: Father)

Now, Lets take a further look and see what you said, and see if I can understand it.

Here is how I see it–

One should read from 21- 24 really in this case—

Yet here I will try to

The samaritans dont understand what Jehovah’s plan is as they only accept the Law of Moses (first 5 books) and are not as enlightened as the Jews who accept the OT. Both need to open themselves to Jesus —

Read more to illustrate the need they have to see the dwelling place of God amoung men-- (Jn 2:19)—

The Father now wants ALL to come to the Messiah, his Son, a new Temple –
by offering worship—

(Jn12:1; 2 Tim 2:22) and wich the Spirit of Jehovah himself stirs people to render (Rom 8:15)

Well, Jone, I feel that I have plenty of reason to resent the Watchtower Society. I am sorry if it comes across as “nasty.” I mean to be firm, not nasty.

Thanks to the deception of the Watchtower Society, I spent years of my life needlessly blaspheming Christ, falsely attacking historic Christianity, and unnecessarily going door to door passing out literature which undermined peoples’ faith in the Historic Christian Gospel. And I wasted many years of my life doing it, which could have been spent on better things, because the Society deceived me into believing what I was doing was “God’s Will,” which it wasn’t. So yes, I believe I have reason to be angry. I do apologize, however, not for the content of my previous post, Jone, but for it’s TONE, because re-reading it it does come across as a personal attack on you as an individual and I really didn’t mean it that way.

However, I do encourage you to google JUSTIN MARTYR. He was an early Christian writer who lived 200 years before Constantine legalized Christianity, and in his works, he explains the doctrine which we call the Trinity. Constantine had nothing to do with the Trinity doctrine.

First question:
What, Jone, according to you is God’s name that we took out of the Bible?

Second question:
Your profile states you have no religion. So your purpose here is what exactly?

Third question: what exactly does “history proven history” mean?

I’m coming in late on this thread and it will help me catch up if you could clarify these points for me.

*Continued

—this is telling us that through Baptism we become true worshipers of Jehovah—

(Romans 8:15-cited earlier)Please read it-

By Baptism men are grafted into the pascal mystery of Christ; they die with him, are buried and rise with him
They receive the spirit of adoption as sons
‘in which we cry, Abba, Father’

and are true adorers as the Father seeks…

But this is simply a snippet of the story-

one must read it in entire context, of course as it goes on in
4:25-26 to tell the rest of the story of the conversion of the Samaritan —

🙂

Dear Jone,

If for some reason I am unable to reply right away or for a bit I want you to hang in here as I am putting the small fry to bed and I will check back…

You cited plenty of verses but - I have to tell you when I read the Bible I try to pray first for guidance from the Holy Spirit and then I pray again (a thankful prayer) and consult my notes… I dont rush things pertaining to Scripture since - We tend to miss the point that way.

I did, for many many years:( doing it that way…

Yes, I was not given proper instruction as a child. I’ll tell you why later.

Prayers!🙂

In first Corinthians (the Corinthians were a hotbed of immorality) Paul discusses many topics – Interestingly enough there You note 1 Corinthians 1-10…

The greeting is follwed by a reminder that they are called to be saints. (in verse 2)

the finale in 10 is a warning of division and all follow in unity.

Chapter 3 is about recieving Full Doctrine

In Chapter 4 he makes a bold wake up call to us -

Verse 11 -
To this very hour we hunger and thirst;and we are naked and buffeted, and have no fixed abode.

As Baby Jesus was not born in a fixed abode either----

I will continue with Corinthians as it speaks of the Eucharist…
