Hey Jaypee, were you aware that it actually says that in the Encyclopedia? Some people actually go to the source for thier material. There is a world out there with info besides where you read it from. you are so suspicious. That can’t be healthy. I think your obsesssed with the Jehovahs

You stand to be corrected because I happen to know that Jehovahs go to prisons to and they have approached me in casual on the bus and once at work. So your information is wrong.
It’s just that YOU only are aware of what YOU see, not necessarily what else is happening

The idea of trinity was never supported by Nicea until he realized religious division was a threat to his empire thus Emporer THealasius established the creed of the council of Nicea in 381 C.E to rechange the formula of holy spirit, God and Jesus. The Encyclopedia says and I quote that the Trinity" is not…directly and immediately the work of God.“That’s the new Catholic Encyclopedia. It also in the Catholic Encyclopedia “In scripture there is as yet no single term by which the Three Divine persons are denoted together. Even the Encyclopedia of Religion says “Theologins today are in agreement that the Hebrew Bible does not contain a doctrine of the Trinity”. And the New Catholic Encyclopedia says” The doctrine of the Holy Trinity is not taught in the Old Testament.” Yet Catholics believe this and yet the bible says to stay away from philosophies of men.
No No and again No Dear Jone! I think you are sincere in your assertations, but I ask you did you actually Look at the Catholic Encyclopedia, or did you accept someone’s quoting of it?

Here is why I ask. Many times in my life I have seen so many religions make statements without proper citations. If and when I suspected they were just too hard to believe-- I went to the actual source to check to make sure in my mind that those words were said. Most often what I found was that it was a gross misrepresentation and only partial quotations represented as full quotations were even the best case, in the worst case, it was simply untrue from the start.

Again, if it is the truth you say you are seeking here, and I do believe you that it is, you must ask yourself if you are getting factual information or biased information.

I know you may not want to go to the officail site to check this (I am only assuming here, please dont think I am Presuming!) and I have access to it and do not see what you are claiming.

Now, if its really there, I would like to know where so you can through Jehovah’s aid, help me see what I am not seeing.

Will you help me?🙂

Jone, who is this post directed to? Is it me? You should make it clear so I dont have to guess if I have offended you. I have prayed to Jehovah to guide my words to you now, and ask his help. Can you clarify?

The New Catholic Encyclopedia does NOT say “that the Trinity” is not…directly and immediately the work of God". That stands directly as a lie unless you wish to stop inferring that it comes from a catholic encyclopedia. That statement comes directly from Watchtower literature. You have no credibility at all as long as you continue to misrepresent.

Jone- this is all from direct quotes from Watchtower.org. And they say also when witnessing as a Christian Do Not fall into deceit and misrepresent yourself. Why are you claiming not to be a JW? that is terrifically dishonest.

Damascus I understand where you are comming from and I agree with you that we need to be accurate in our information. I promise you I did get this from the source. I kept the quotes but the pages I regret I did not keep. I am very sound in mind it was not misrepresented. If you don’t believe me, I urge you to research it yourself and you will find it there! I made sure it wasn’t misrepresented because then again it would be my own opinion and my own opinion does not matter.

tequilamac these are direct quotes from the encyclopedias. I give up. Can’t anyone do research? Maybe if this is what you think I should become one! Obviously I have more in common with them then I thought. I think it’s terrifically close minded to shut out direct information. Did it ever occur to you that all people have access to the same info if they research it? Look it up yourself in the meantime, I’m going to talk to them and find out, it’s probably a good idea. Thanks for the idea

Sorry Damascus. This was a reply to minkymurph. I will address it better! Sorry.

A PROTESTANT publication states: “The word Trinity is not found in the Bible . . . It did not find a place formally in the theology of the church till the 4th century.” (The Illustrated Bible Dictionary) And a Catholic authority says that the Trinity “is not . . . directly and immediately [the] word of God.”—New Catholic Encyclopedia.

The Catholic Encyclopedia also comments: “In Scripture there is as yet no single term by which the Three Divine Persons are denoted together. The word [tri’as] (of which the Latin trinitas is a translation) is first found in Theophilus of Antioch about A. D. 180. . . . Shortly afterwards it appears in its Latin form of trinitas in Tertullian.” watchtower.org/e/ti/index.htm

And here is what you said:
“The Encyclopedia says and I quote that the Trinity” is not…directly and immediately the work of God.“That’s the new Catholic Encyclopedia.” You are missing a very important word there.

I’m sorry. You are not being truthful so I see no sense in wasting any more time on this thread. See ya.

Calm down Jone, I was only asking a question. I didn’t think anything prior to asking the question, I didn’y know whether they did or not and no one told me JW’s didn’t preach to people in prison. With respect, you don’t know me or the first thing about me. You can’t say it’s YOU capital letters. Please, less anger more peace. Is that not what Our Lord Preached?

Okay wait a minute— the IDEA of the TRINITY is a seperate issue from it being DECLARED DOGMA

as for it not being alluded to in the OT----

It really is alluded to in the Ot. yet, here is the flaw in your argument–

that it must be revealed in the OT or in the NT (one over the other)

and you have to and must, realize that this is a seperate topic that millions of threads here have covered nicely, and most of us here are really not going to take further with you until you cite the actual place you assert is in the Catholic Encyclopedia—

I will go forward defending the Trinity with a sincere seeker-

You have many unanswerd questions you have ignored and I have been tested on my patience to the brink here seeing you go on this way-

I will continue with you on ANY subject- you must participate and not ignore things you cant answer along the way.😉

That is not reasoning, that is selective amnesia if you cant in good faith do it.

Most of us Catholics around here are very cautious when a non-Catholic offers “quotes” for something, too often it is determined that the quote is either bogus, misleading, misquoted or misinterpreted. Due to those factors we dont hesitate to request very specific citations, especially appreciated are those quotes with online links that are readily verifyable.

Looking through what you have provided I see no citations apart from “Catholic Encyclopedia” which is a very broad reference. There needs to be more specific information cited than that.
Newadvent.com is Catholic Encyclopedia online, if you can please find your quote there and link back to us.

I find it iteresting that you guys are all upset and yet you think I am??!! I think there is more going on here. If you were to read your quotes you sound upset as well. So I am finished, I see alot of hypocrisy here. Not with Damascus. But Damascus, it wouldn’t matter what I say you would take challenge with it. I gave you quotes and that wasn’t enough. Nothing will be. So goodbye I am unsuscribing.

Thank you for dropping in and may the Lord bless you on your way out and be assured the Most Holy Mother of God will be praying for you.👍

No problem! I understand!!!🙂

Its hard to really talk in the internet… I agree its not easy. I have had my own fair share of problems being understood and even having confidences violated.

Thats how it goes I guess…😦

But I go on anyway, as I pray you do in spite of what you may feel emotionally, let Jehovah guide you, you will be fine!🙂

How come all the JW’s take off when people don’t agree with them?

Can’t stand the heat in the kitchen and nothing to put it out with.
Prague!!!

Following God if you have noticed takes a lot of effort and work. As far as I can see the effort JW’s are willing to concede is the hit and run pamphlet dropping, occasional knocks on the door, and bible study. JW’s dont do much of anything that takes a lot of effort or risk. Their religion “forbids” things like military service, giving birthday or christmas gifts to another, etc. They as a general rule simply do not put themselves out for God. They won’t give him a blood transfusion either. They won’t fight for him. they won’t give him anything. But they do talk a lot and you know what they say? Talk is cheap.

Jone, You said I did not offend you. You told me to look at the Catholic Encyclopedia, I did Jone. I cant find it.

I asked you if you read all the Holy Scripture I posted… you never responded Jone- I even said I would understand as we all get busy from time to time— yet you never spent the time to at least look at all the stuff that took my precious time doing what you think we dont do!
  1. Read the Scripture
  2. witness it to others!
I did it all in love in the name of Jehovah, and in Jesus Christ!

You never disagreed with any of my posts!!!

Jone, why would you leave without admitting that? I would never leave if I was PASSIONATE (sharing with passion_ compassionate)

You ignored me!😦

COme back! I feel as if we missed something here to help ALL of us by you leaving!!!

You have too. Jesus did not scare easily Jone! Be brave! Come back!🙂

I have reread all that you have written. Your first post seems angry. I do not have access to the new encyclopedia but I highly doubt that it says what you say it does and Damascus confirms that doubt. There have been others who come here with quotes, that I believe, think we will accept without checking it out. But we do check it out and usually find them inaccurate. When this is pointed out to them, they usually just leave without comment. Our local library does not have it but there is one about a hour and half away. I would apprecitate you giving me a more percise location, page number would be good. So that when I go to look it up it will be easier to find.
