I, too, am glad. šŸ™‚

However, just a point that needs to be mentioned here: we go where Truth is, not where we feel happy and good.

Imagine if an adult believed in Santa Claus–the jolly fat elf who lives in the north pole and delivers toys to good little boys and girls. It makes her happy and good to believe in this…

but if it’s not true…

then it’s gaga to believe in it, right?

Even if it makes her happy and good.

Yes we do. That is why I went back to Evangelicalism. šŸ™‚

Oh you and your both-ands. :pshaw:

No, but in all seriousness, I think it may possibly be the slightest bit silly when someone on either side insists on ā€œYou’re my SB, not the other way around.ā€ It may have been a bit fun, when I was a good deal younger, to say ā€œI’m not your brother, your my brotherā€ … but when adults do it, well :hmmm:

True. This isn’t like being at a buffet. The truth is what it is and we have tot take it or leave it, but knowing we are in the Truth does bring it’s own happiness. šŸ™‚

'zactly.

If we can’t say that there’s some teaching our church has which we find unpalatable, then we have church shopped for the Church of the Almighty Self.

The Catholic Church didn’t ā€˜separate’ from anyone. We’re still here, solid as a ā€œROCKā€. God Bless, Memaw

Lol

From the Catholic angle, I would be the seperated brother because I am not a member of the Catholic Church.

From my Evangelical viewpoint, we are not seperated in the Catholic view because we both are members of the Body of Christ (Christian Church)…

We are ā€œseperateā€ only in our faith traditions. You are my brother in Christ…not my half brother but my brother!

Yes we are ā€˜brothers’ in Christ, but we are very definitely separate in beliefs, especially in Apostolic Succession and the Sacraments. And that is the most serious kind of separation. God Bless, Memaw

Memaw, that would be the different faith traditions.

Its Monday ill chime in…You keep repeating the Catholic church i.e. universal is the Christian church…sorry to tell you this bud but historically the Christian church IS the Catholic Church. So yes you are a Christian since you follow Christ (your opinion of his teachings that is) BUT and here it is your not a member of his Church! Sorry to break your bag of hot air. You don’t get to redefine the terms.

You are more than welcome to your opinion ā€œbudā€ and I respect that. I hope and pray God pours out His mercy on both of us.

There is a difference here Pal (is that one acceptable?) Its not just my opinion. See Catholics don’t have the liberty of just making stuff up and winging it. We actually have a historic basis for what we say and preach. It really says something when literally 3/4 if not more of Christian history and practice (not only on the Latin side but the orthodox as well) says one thing and then all of a sudden Johnny come lately shows up and try’s to reinvent the terms. Not going to work!

And I think we can see by the MANY divisions of Protestantism that it isn’t working. Prayers, God Bless, Memaw
