If the church allows and encourages us to believe Fatima as authentic, then it is encouraging us to believe in Our Lady’s words that there will be an era of peace as she stated in this approved apparition despite what any other apparition whether approved, religious deception, condemed, or still under investigation states. At Fatima She was recorded as having stated that in the end, her immaculate heart, and thus the sacred heart of Her Son would triumph and the world as she states, will enjoy a period of peace. Those were words approved by Rome as having come from the Mother of God. I would suggest that we are not only to see them as authentic, but enocuraged to believe them even though our faith does not oblige us to believe in any apparition. But I cant see why not if so many miracles and wonders surround Fatima.
I believe the period of peace was evidenced after communism fell in 1991.It may also have been another sign of the Blessed Virgin’s words when she revealed herself to over 100 people in Venezuela on the VERY DAY of St John Paul 2 public entrustment of “that certain nation who she has been requesting” meaning Russia.

This is an interesting post, but the basic premise is based on some fundamental misconceptions about the Bible and specifically, about the Tribulation. These misconceptions are rampant within Christianity, because the truth of the End Times has been hidden from humanity for thousands of years, just like it says in Daniel 12:4, Proverbs 25:2, II Thessalonians 2:11 and other places in the Bible, itself. I would strongly suggest that if you want to know the hidden truth, so you understand how to navigate the End Times, that you should get to know Dr. Scott McQuate’s works. They are truly fascinating and IMHO prophetic. He’s written a book on the specific subject of the Tribulaton entitled ‘The Tribulation’ at www.TheTribulation.com He’s also written many other works about topics such as The Abomination of Desolation, The Rapture, The Ark of the Covenant, the Great Pyramids, The Garden in Eden and much more and shows the hidden link between these things and human DNA. Once you sink your teeth into these works you will understand without any doubt that what has been taught within Christianity for 2000 years has been ‘twisted’ and ‘turned upside down’ just as Jesus warned the Scribes would do and exactly like it tells us in Isaiah 29:15 and 16 and Jeremiah 8:8, where it tells us that the writers of much of the Bible, were liars. This man has changed my life and I thank Dr. Scott McQuate for all he has done to uncover the truth in these End Times. You’ll know what I mean when you read his stuff. Literally mind-blowing, scholarly work.

I think most honest people, including myself would agree that your comment is entirely unfair. Dr. McQuate gives away a tremendous amount of free material, without charging a dime and has done that for years. I guess some people are just never satisfied with anything. The Bible says a ‘workman is worthy of his wages’ and it never states exclusions to that rule. Only a fool would think that someone should work without pay and I know that Dr. McQuate works harder in his research than most. Reasonable and fair people know the value of hard work and don’t expect to reap the benefits of someone else’s labor, without paying something for it. Christian or not, that’s how the world works. I don’t know anyone else who gives you access to their life’s work for the cost of a trip to McDonald’s. Maybe it’s time you grow up, StMikhael and stop criticizing people you don’t even know. I’ll wager you’ve never even read a word of his material. And yet you criticize him. Do you work for free? LOL. Typical end times behavior. Hypocrisy at its finest.

Perhaps I was a bit quick to judge. I apologize for that. However I did in fact spend probably an hour or more, maybe 2, searching him out via his websites and even via youtube interviews. I did find his “inner circle” concept to be disturbing in that, by it’s name alone, it appears to imply a secretive aspect to it’s teaching. In order to be in this inner circle one must spend money. I discovered this after I was growing a bit interested in what more he had to offer. This is usually a tip-off that the material is not from the heart but more from a dimension of acquiring wealth. I also found it to be a bit sensational. This to is usually a telling detail.

Again, I do apologize for the quickness to judgement. However I do think the concept of an “inner circle” is not well thought out.

I’ll give his material another look.

StMikhael, to say that someone’s work is about ‘gaining wealth’ rather than coming from ‘the heart’, because they charge a fee, is not only unfounded in the Bible, but is patently absurd. No one in our world who has preached or taught from the Bible who had anything of value to say, did so without being compensated. Your argument is fundamentally flawed. You don’t work without pay, your Pastor or Priest does not work without pay, as a matter of fact, the Vatican is one of the wealthiest entities in the world. Using your philosophy, ‘they must be doing it for money…?’ I think you’ve found yourself in a catch 22 because you, like so many others refuse to see the value in the truth and rather than ‘buying’ something that could change your life, you turn away and remain in darkness. Jesus was compensated as well as we see from his request of fish and bread from the people. Is that not compensation. It’s asinine to think Jesus and the disciples who followed his teachings got their sustenance from breathing air and drinking water. Absolutely ridiculous. The problem with so many Christians is that they think because something is not ‘written down’ in the Bible, it did not happen. Ludicrous and a sign of spiritual sickness that has lead to wide-spread spiritual blindness. Again, a workman is worthy of his wages. You and others who believe the way you do, can either change your misguided philosophy if you ever want to know the truth, from any source, or you can continue floundering around aimlessly seeking the truth from blogs, forums, websites, YouTube, Google etc., which leaves you empty at the end of the day. Jesus has sent you messengers in these End Times, but by holding their teachings up to your false doctrines and unfounded philosophies, you miss the truth. That’s the way it’s always been. Living in the material world requires compensation, no matter who you are. It’s a result of the rebellion and will not change, no matter how adamant one is about their doctrines.

Hi Rick,

I appreciate what you are saying however you are fundamentally mis-characterizing my position. my initial response was in fact too quick off my tongue. For that I do (and did) apologize. I was being tongue-in-cheek. I am fully aware everyone needs funds to do pretty much anything in this world. Most especially those in a position doing research. I contributed to many organizations (catholic radio, EWTN, private organizations and much much more).

Again, I do not in any way dispute a days pay for a days wage. I study economics (recreationaly). You have me miss characterized. I was being un-duly sarcastic.

Again, it was the mannerism of the website etc, and the use of the term “inner circle” that lad me to my quick unjustified response. NOT at all, the simple fact that money was being requested.

Am I being more clear this time?

Thanks

Hi, I have never read Stephen Walford’s book so I cannot speak for it in its entirety. However on his subject of the era of peace, I feel like the question that needs to be examined is what is an era? The Oxford Dictionary defines an era as:

A long and distinct period of history with a particular feature or characteristic: "his death marked the end of an era"

In essence, an era as it is defined but in a Catholic sense, is bound to a time within salvation history before the last judgment.

My assumption without having read the book, is that a lot popes that he is quoting are stating that there can never be a period of time within history where man experiences the peace that will be experienced after the second coming and the final judgment at the end of history (there can never be an end of sin and death).

But regarding a unique peace within history, there is actually support for it from popes. In his theses, “Theology of History According to St. Boneventure” Cardinal Ratzinger speaks of St. Boneventures beliefs of an historical time of peace based on the writings of Joachim of Fiore. Joachim was held as a mystic who prophesied that a time of tranquility would come for the world when Jerusalem would become a central city, all nations would come to know Christ as Lord…A time when God gathers his people together and shows his mercy in a way that has not been seen within history. There were other prophecies of that time like Francis of Paula speaking of the rise of a new religious order that St. Boneventure personally associated with St. Francis and the Franciscan Order.

However, Cardinal Ratzinger also takes great length to speak about Joachim and senses of** world ages/periods of time **in this book. Bonaventure has his personal opinion of this “Age of the Spirit” that Joachim speaks of being fulfilled, but Cardinal Ratzinger seems open to the idea that it could be yet to come. This does seem to be present even in some of his writings. For instance on July 20th, 2008, he stated in his homily at World Youth Day in Sidney Australia:

**Empowered by the Spirit, and drawing upon faith’s rich vision, a new generation of Christians is being called to help build a world in which God’s gift of life is welcomed, respected and cherished… A new age in which hope liberates us from the shallowness, apathy, and self-absorption which deaden our souls and poison our relationships. Dear young friends, the Lord is asking you to be prophets of this new age… —Pope Benedict XVI. **

I haven’t read Stephen Walford’s book, and I’m sure it does contain a lot of great insight, but in this particular regard I would have to respectfully disagree. My suspicion is that a lot of the statements of the popes used from the book are speaking of the condemnation of any era of peace within history where sin and death are absent…that there will never be an era of peace like the peace that is experienced by the souls in heaven or after the final judgment when sin and death itself are put under Christ’s foot.

We are in the time of peace. The gospel has been preached nearly everywhere. When antichrist is revealed many will think he is Jesus and has come to bring peace and a 1000 year reign.Always remember what Jesus said: First the lawless one it to be revealed and he will arrive with such lying signs and wonders as to deceive most.
Jesus told St Faustina that before his final coming all lights in the heavens will be extinguished and the sign of the cross will appear in the sky.
I am not holding my breath for any amazing transformation of this world until Jesus returns.
Im kind of surprised we havent seen more false prophets in modern times, I have a feeling we are either in the end times or very very close, yet still, we havent seen ANY false prophets that Jesus spoke of…sure there have always been crazy people claiming to be God, and such, but Jesus said there will be many that have supernatural abilities to back up their claims…Ive yet to see anyone like this, not even any claims of abilities for that matter,( kind of strange??)

I also have a feeling the VERY first false prophet to come along that does have supernatural abilities will fool just about everyone, if the world suddenly hears of a person that can call down fire from the sky at will, with no scientific explanation, nearly everyone will think they must be something special, a ‘god’ so to speak, not much of a stretch for people to start worshiping them either.

Why did not JPII specifically mention “Russia”? I think he was afraid to; he was strongly advised against it. JPII chose to listen to his advisors rather than follow the advice from Sr. Lucia, who received her instructions from our Blessed Mother. Thus a very vague mention of Russia at the consecration.

In 1917 at the church approved apparitions of Fatima Portugal, the Blessed Virgin stated that if her requests for the consecrations of Russia were made, there would be peace. She told the three children:

The [First World] war is going to end; but if people do not cease offending God, a worse one will break out during the pontificate of Pius XI. When you see a night illumined by an unknown light, know that this is the great sign given you by God that He is about to punish the world for its crimes, by means of war, famine, and persecutions of the Church and of the Holy Father. To prevent this, I shall come to ask for the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart… If my requests are heeded, Russia will be converted, and there will be peace. If not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church. The good will be martyred, the Holy Father will have much to suffer, various nations will be annihilated. In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, and she will be converted, and a period of peace will be granted to the world."

She states that in the end her heart (and thus the heart of Jesus), would triumph, and an era of peace would be granted to the world. I would like to hear from other Catholics on this. My personal thought in light of everything that is happening at this moment with Ukraine and relations between the the western world and Russia is that the prophecy still has yet to be fulfilled, or fully realized. Thoughts?
Interesting thread & posts, will read later on. Thanks. God Bless.🙂

The prophecy and its results are in the past–except perhaps for the third secret, which isn’t expressed as involving Russia.
However, while the war predicted, it would seem, was World War II, which doesn’t mean that there couldn’t be another terrible war in the world, not covered by the prophesies of Fatima.

I believe that JP2 was devoted to Our Blessed Mother and believed in his heart that he was consecrating Russia as requested at Fatima. But, he did not directly name Russia. Why not? There was some kind of Vatican politics going on and some kind of fear that an outright naming of Russia might cause a problem either for the Orthodox in Russia or the Vatican’s relations with the Russian Orthodox would be damaged. In any case, he did not directly name Russia. Lucia did not at first consent that the consecration was made properly.
I don’t believe that the criteria was met. JP2 put the worldly concerns ahead of heeding Our Lady’s words.

The arguably most Marian pope of modern times?
