Mein Gott hat gnade…I think that when I stand at Communion time, in front of the altar, to distribute Communion, I, like all priests and bishops, I believe, am counting on the individual communicant who’s coming forward to receive Communion, to decide whether he or she is worthy of Communion and is ready to receive it, this Sacrament. I am not there principally as a gatekeeper. I am there as a priest and a celebrant to give forth the Eucharist.
Huh? No, that is what my grandfather says to himself all the time- he tells me it means “My God have mercy”.Mein Gott hat gnade… = My God has grace
I too thank God for His grace, and that He alone judges all men by their hearts, and that man does not judge me! Let all those that reject God receive His justice, and all who accept God be welcomed into His arms!
Are you cherry picking again? And are saying this based on the quote from the interview selected above? Because we all know that this is not in complete alignment with Ratzinger’s letter sent to Cardinal McCarrick, nor complete alignment with statements in Cardinal Arinze’s interview, or in accordance with Canon 915.Looks like the Holy Father made an incredibly solid choice in this archbishop.
Maybe Pope Benedict disagrees with Cardinal RatzingerAre you cherry picking again? And are saying this based on the quote from the interview selected above? Laughable comment.Maybe Pope Benedict disagrees with Cardinal Ratzinger
Well, if that were true, the Pope should correct Cardinal Arinze and change Canon 915 while he’s at it.Maybe Pope Benedict disagrees with Cardinal Ratzinger
Good one.Well, if that were true, the Pope should correct Cardinal Arinze and change Canon 915 while he’s at it.
Guess I missed the reasons why he would do that…Well, if that were true, the Pope should correct Cardinal Arinze and change Canon 915 while he’s at it.

Look…the facts are the facts…Pope Benedict appointed this archbishop…so one would have to assume that he is in agreement with his chosen pastoral style.
So then you would assert that the Pope made a mistake…that you don’t respect his judgment in appointing bishops? You’re kidding right? And the rest of us should eat cakes.
No, one does not have to assume this. He’s also taking it on good faith based on recommendation by others.Guess I missed the reasons why he would do that…

I thought that you’d be the first to admit that the pope is not infallible in this regard. In fact, if Burke got a red hat, I can hear you already. So then you would assert that the Pope made a mistake…that you don’t respect his judgment in appointing bishops?
You mean like Cardinal Levada…who he handpicked to lead the CDF?No, one does not have to assume this. He’s also taking it on good faith based on recommendation by others.
Ok Mr. Pharisee, then how do you explain this?Guess I missed the reasons why he would do that…

When did I become a pharisee? That’s new.Ok Mr. Pharisee, then how do you explain this?
