As part of our custom, we visit seven churches on Holy Thursday evening after the Mass to pray the Stations of the Cross and adore the reposed Blessed Sacrament in the Altar of Repose. As we visited the final church (around 11:30), we prayed the Stations and spent moments in adoration. Then at around midnight, 4 servers with torches and a priest (wearing a white stole and humeral veil) arrived at the Altar of Repose. The priest then knelt in prayer and after a few moments, he got the Blessed Sacrament and left the Altar of Repose with the servers carrying torches.

Is this practice done in your parish? Or is it done before communion during the Good Friday Service?

No, I’ve never heard of the priest removing the Blessed Sacrament from the Altar of Repose at the end of the adoration period on Holy Thursday. It is my understanding that the Blessed Sacrament stays in the tabernacle at the Altar of Repose through Good Friday. Do you know where he took the Blessed Sacrament?
However, on Good Friday, the altar servers in my parish lead the priest carrying the altar candles to the Altar of Repose to retrieve the Communion, after the veneration of the cross has concluded. Likewise, they lead him back to the Altar of Repose after everyone has received.

Is it possible that the Blessed Sacrament had to be moved to somewhere more secure for the night?

Yes. This. This is what is done here, especially if the Altar of Repose has been set up somewhere other than in the church proper. (Like an adjacent building on the property).

Please stop looking for problems where there is none.

Ours was set up in the adjacent meeting hall, adoration ran from the end of the Maundy Thursday mass until midnight, then the consecrated hosts were moved into the adoration chapel (more secure) for the evening. It is a very beautiful and spiritually uplifting evening with the Lord!
