During Mass when the priest recites the Eucharist prayer what two sentences speaks to your heart? I would like to know from your guys I would like your say on this. Thank you for your time.

You do realize that when they ask you these things in RCIA, there’s really no wrong answer.
They just want to engage you in the discussion and share.

Don’t worry so much about it.
Just speak from the heart.

My answer is not your answer.

I go to mass every week but I dont remember how it goes do you know the prayer? if so can you please reply back with the prayer. I would be very grateful thank you 🙂

Which Eucharistic prayer are you referring to? There are 13.

I had no idea there was 13 all I know its the one the priest recites in mass.

Both are during the Epliclesis:

Eucharistic Prayer 2: Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray,
by sending down your Spirit upon them like the dewfall

The image of the ‘dewfall’ for me is that the Spirit is just ‘THERE’. Just is. We don’t see dewfall happening - it just does. Same with the Holy Spirit! Eucharistic Prayer 2 is said mostly at a daily Mass.

**
Eucharistic Prayer 3:** You are indeed Holy, O Lord,
and all you have created rightly gives you praise,
for through your Son our Lord Jesus Christ,
by the power and working of the Holy Spirit,
you give life to all things and make them holy,
and you never cease to gather a people to yourself,
so that from the rising of the sun to its setting
a pure sacrifice may be offered to your name.

The image of the ‘rising of the sun to it’s setting’ for me brings those space pictures seeing a perpetual sunrise or perpetual sunset. This brings to my heart the knowledge that no matter when - the Mass has been prayed since Christ was on the cross - His sacrifice was perfect and continues to be perfect. Eucharistic Prayer 3 is what my pastor says most of the time on Sundays.

I love reading the prayers outside of Mass and reflecting on the images they bring to mind. These prayers connect us to all those who have gone before us and participated in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and Jesus Christ! W.O.W.

Since you a e in RCIA and you keep saying “Eucharist prayer” rather an Eucharistic prayer, I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest that maybe the Eucharistic prayer is not what they are asking about. As Thistle pointed out, there are several, and not may cradle Catholics would handle that broad question very well.

I’m thinking they are talking about this:

Preparation for Communion:
Priest: *Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world.
Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb. *

My thinking (and I’m just guessing here) is that they would like to hear you express how profoundly those words have an impact on you, when realizing you are the int he Presence of the Lamb of God., Jesus Christ Himself, Body, Blod, soul, and Divinity.

How do you feel? Tell them about that.

Or probably Eucharistic Prayer II, which is the most commonly used one these days. Even on Sundays when it shouldn’t.

Quite possibly.
We do a dismissal for the breaking open of the Word though…so it’s still a puzzle.
🙂

The most two important lines
  1. “On the night before he was betrayed he took bread and when he had given thanks broke it and gave it to his disciples saying “Take, eat, this is my body which is given for you.””
  2. “In a similar way after supper he took the cup and once more giving thanks gave it to his disciples saying “Take this all of you and drink of it for this is my blood of the new covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me.””
I seem to remember those lines having some degree of importance. 😉

The OP’s questions do sound a bit like stuff lifted from a workbook. Makes me wonder…
It might be more helpful to her if she answered the question for herself, and some people could comment, or elaborate. If it is homework, it’s kind of a misrepresentation. I know all of us are more than willing to help in any way we can. I would really like to hear her viewpoint 🙂 since she’s on the RICA journey.

I would go with that minus the narrative.

HOC EST ENIM CORPUS MEUM

HIC EST ENIM CALIX SANGUINIS MEI,
NOVI ET ÆTERNI TESTAMENTI:
MYSTERIUM FIDEI: QUI PRO VOBIS ET PRO MULTIS
EFFUNDETUR IN REMISSIONEM PECCATORUM.

I seriously doubt that this catechumen/candidate is studying in Latin.
She have not given any indication of such.

I posted it partly because it’s about the only thing you hear at an EF. No need to take four years of Latin to realize its importance. I believe I answered her question. She didn’t say what language. 🙂

EP IV

To accomplish your plan, he gave himself up to death, and, rising from the dead, he destroyed death and restored life. And that we might live no longer for ourselves but for him who died and rose again for us, he sent the Holy Spirit from you, Father, as the first fruits for those who believe, so that, bringing to perfection his work in the world, he might sanctify creation to the full.
