No, Romanian, a Latin on the opposite side of Europe. Funny thing though, is that Romanian shares a number of features with Portuguese and Spanish that none of the Romance languages have, the “personal a” for instance. Btw, my ex’s Romanian friends (they sided with me after the divorce, as did her mother) were amazed that I learned Romanian. I just took it as a given in a mixed marriage.
Boa noite!
If what you said was in Romanian, it was exactly the same as what we say in Portuguese, all the spelling was accurate. I knew Romanian was one of the 9 Romance/Latin languages, I didn’t know it was so similar to Portuguese. I always thought Spanish, Italian and French were the most similar to it.

No, it was Portuguese, in Romanian it’s “noapte buna”

Italian is most like Romanian, but it shares aspects of grammar and phonology with Spanish and Portuguese, which I found odd when learning Romanian, as it is on the opposite side end of the Romance world. Romanian is also interesting in that it is the most like Latin: it still has, for instance, nominal inflection, something the other languages have given up.

To get somewhat back on topic, I remember Romanians making the comparison between Romania’s economy and the Portuguese, both being poor at the same level. But, I pointed out, Portugal was still better off, being in the EU (Romania has since been admitted). It seems that Brazilians have become more common in Europe through Brazil’s citizen agreements with Portugal, so much that the Portuguese used in Europe outside Portugal is often Brazilian.
