I didn’t know whether to laugh or throw up, these people really take this seriously. They claim these women were ordained Catholic priests.

A) Not possible.
B) It was done in a Jewish temple.
C) Condemned by the Catholic Church
D) Who ‘ordained’ them?

What fires me up is the fact that they are actually calling themselves Catholic! I wouldn’t mind so much if they were claiming to be a new protestant religion or something, but to call themselves Catholic just really gets me going.

The Catholic church says these female priests have no standing, but the women say they plan to celebrate mass and perform other priestly duties just like men.
This historic event for the Catholic church in St. Louis took place in a Jewish synagogue.
Two woman, Rose Marie Hudson and Elsie McGrath, were ordained as priests fulfilling what they said is a lifelong dream.
The Women’s Priest Movement is rejected by the Pope and the St. Louis Archbishop has threatened excommunication.
You take too seriously something that you and I cannot control.

Those of us who are faithful Catholics know full well that these are not validly ordained priests and can never be.

Don’t let 'em elevate your BP 'til and when one shows up to celebrate Mass…then just stand and walk out. It won’t happen in most parishes anyway because a bishop who allowed them would be in deep hot water.

Just keep on doing what we do and leave these rebels to God and the Holy See.👍

A ceremony can take place all it wants, but it doesn’t make it valid.
  1. They are NOT valid priests
  2. The Catholic church does NOT endorse it
  3. It would be no different than If i was ‘Ordained’ Bishop by a friend, a cat and a small alpaca, and said my ordination was valid
Cheers

Like heck they were.

They can think anything they like, but when asked by God what the heck they thought they were doing to HIS Church and HIS Bride - well boy, I would hate to be in their shoes when they have to answer for it.

What make me mad is not that it was done, but that they are telling everyone they are Catholic, and the secular media is advertising as such. With the amount of confusion and misconceptions on the Catholic Church already, this is only going to confuse / possibly drive people away from the very name Catholic.

I almost would believe you on #3…except how possible it is even to get a cat and small alpaca to agree on anything:D

Nah…they wouldn’t like my comments anyway.

“Hello? The Pope called and he and the bishop here in St Louis said to tell you that you and the jokers who “ordained” you are excommunicated. Hate it for ya… Bye now!”

They’ve disabled their forums. Might have to do it the old-fashioned way (snail mail letter to the editor).

What nonsense (the article itself). They’re not the first women to fall prey to the delusion that they might be Catholic priests. Unfortunately, I’m afraid they won’t be the last to succumb to the delusion–but delusion it remains. It’s rather like the man who sticks his hand in his shirt and calls himself Napoleon.

I managed to vote in their poll ‘Should women become priests’ as well as leave a comment. I forget the exact poll stats, but remember that the yes’s were ahead.

the article mentions that they are going to celebrate they’re first Mass in a Unitarian Church

You mean mass with a little “m” - they can call it what they want but it will NEVER be the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass that Christ left us.

I know you know this - I’m picking on them, not you. 😉 It just cheesed me off to see that statement in the article - they might be celebrating something, but it won’t be Mass.

I was able to vote but for some reason it did not post my comment…

One of the women was speaking on the news last night. She said they were catholic, but not Roman Catholic. The Archbishop has condemned it. There’s no where here for them to have a valid Mass…I don’t think you can really have a Mass in a church that denies the divinity of Jesus…that just seems silly. But the Unitarian churches in St. Louis are pretty easy going, so I guess that’s as good a place as any. It also struck me funny that the ordination took place in a synagogue. I missed the beginning of the item on the news, so I didn’t see who the “ordain-er” was. But it seems to me, that until and unless they get themselves a Catholic Church, I’m not going to worry about them. They’re their own little religion, and have nothing to do with us.

Yes Liza thats exactly what I meant sorry 😊

Aerosmith is stuck in my head now. “Dream on … Dream on … Dream on …”

This is ludicrous. I hope they are excommunicated.

(just don’t like it when people degrade the faith)

When I was a child I would pretend to consecrate the Eucharist. As I did not have the power to consecrate the Eucharist it was only pretend just as it was a pretend consecration. No one has the Authority to consecrate priestesses in the Catholic Church. They are only fooling themselves.

I also don’t get why they insist on calling themselves “Catholic.” Why not just become Anglican where this is allowed?

Their first move upon becoming “Catholic Priests” was to disobey the Catholic Bishop. They are not Catholic in any sense.

Rather than simply becoming Protestant/Anglican where this stuff is allowed, they insist on forcing themselves and their views upon the Catholic Church.

I’m disapointed with their lack of ambition. Instead of settling for merely being priests, they should have made themselves bishops, United States Senators, members of the boards of all the Fortune 500 companies, and awarded themselves the Nobel Peace Prize. If you’re going to pretend, you might as well pretend big.
