The first Catholic women priests were ordained today?

I have to agree with many of you-I don’t think women should be priests. If GOD had intended women to be priests I think a woman would have been an apostle.
 
the only positive note in this whole disgusting story is that having removed themselves from the Catholic Church they won’t be throwing their weight around as DREs, RCIA directors or liturgists in a Catholic parish.

Back to topic though - I agree with you. These women are no more consecrating the host than my neighbor was in his basement so many years ago.

That is an excellent point!!! How many of these women were teaching our children or newcomers to our parishes… we should thank God that they won’t have the opportunity to corrupt the teachings anymore.
 
There were no female apostles. However, Mary was Queen of the Apostles. Christ’s own mother had a very high role. So, if God wanted female priestesses he would have made Mary one. It would seem a reasonable choice. Mary was not even at the last supper. I think it all speaks for itself. But I am surprised that they only made themselves priests. Why not do what the “true Catholic Church” did and declare themselves Pope? As other posters have said “dream big”.
 
Women are so very blessed and seldom realize and appreciate (thank you WOMENS MOVEMENT , for stripping all joy from acting like women )what they are able to do , but rather focus on what they cannot do. While it must be unfathomable to be a catholic preist, we were not left short. We get to cooperate with God himself , and take part in the creation of immortal souls, it’s HUGE, and a huge responsibility, even the angels themselves cannot do this, if you ask, me , this makes everything else sooooooosmall.
 
2 main reasons. Tradition, something the protestants don’t care about. Also real gender roles, something the socialists and liberals want to destroy. If you have ever heard on Envoy magazine, they published a good article about it in the issue before last. But the short of it it. We never have and we never will. There is a good reason for this. As a man can not be a mother, so too a woman can not be a father (in either sense). This may be an over-simplification, but if you look around the forum there are plenty of threads on why they can’t. Right now this is in the news forum, and you are starting to direct it to apologetics. Go look there for a detailed answer.

Because the Catholic Priesthood is different from all other groups.

Our priesthood is a direct image of God who came upon this earth as a man. To change that is to deny God and to remake Him in our image for our own desires. This would be denying our faith and also insulting women, as women don’t need to do everything a man does to be worth something.
We believe in the dignity of women apart from having to prove themselves by trying to be like men, as Catholics believe women have worth as themselves it is an insult to think that they are somehow not as good if they don’t do what men do.
Men cannot be nuns, mothers or sisters either.

In other words we do not have the ability to redefine God or our faith just because of culture or style encourages it, our faith transcends culture or style. From another faith tradition it might be difficult to understand or if you don’t believe in the Catholic faith then it might even seem silly, but Catholics have died for much more minimal issues concerning our faith, as it is extremely important to defend in detail.

I didn’t know whether to laugh or throw up, these people really take this seriously. They claim these women were ordained Catholic priests.

A) Not possible.
B) It was done in a Jewish temple.
C) Condemned by the Catholic Church
D) Who ‘ordained’ them?

What fires me up is the fact that they are actually calling themselves Catholic! I wouldn’t mind so much if they were claiming to be a new protestant religion or something, but to call themselves Catholic just really gets me going. :mad:

  2. The Catholic church does NOT endorse it
  3. It would be no different than If i was ‘Ordained’ Bishop by a friend, a cat and a small alpaca, and said my ordination was valid

They try and convince the reader that it is all ok…

It is sad, personally I wouldn’t get out of my bed on a Sunday morning to attend their fiasco.

" A new model of priesthood " as one put it, oh boy !

And after they bless the bread and wine they still won’t have a valid Eucharist…when I think of the humility of Mary, well this side-show is a mockery.
 
More reasons why it isn’t valid…
  1. The ceremony was performed in a Jewish synagogue so it should have no bearing
  2. It’s condemned by the Pope and the Catholic Church
  3. There are Catholic Churches that are not in communion with the Holy Roman Catholic Church
  4. They aren’t going to be holding “masses” in a Catholic Church
I think it’s just two woman trying to get attention personally…
