It is my understanding that upon receiving Jesus in the Eucharist, our venial sin are forgiven by Jesus. And that when having committed a mortal sin, only through the Sacrament of Reconciliation are you able to be absolved.

I usually go to confession when committing both mortal and venial sins and only recently have I seeked forgiveness for my venial sins through The Eucharist.

My dilemma is that I still feel guilt from my venial sins even after receiving Christ, however, when I go to confession, I feel forgiven.

Are my venial sin truly forgiven after receiving Jesus within The Eucharist?

Yes, your venial sins are still forgiven after receiving Eucharist.

Forgiveness is NOT dependent on your “feelings”. Feelings are very untrustworthy. A scrupulous person, for example, might still feel sinful and guilty even after having been absolved in confession.

You need to follow the Church teaching on this and set your “feelings” aside. My guess is that you simply aren’t used to the idea that receiving Eucharist forgives venial sins.

If you repent and ask God to forgive your sins He will forgive ALL your sins.
Except that you still need to go to confession and be absolved if you have committed a grave, possibly mortal sin, BEFORE you receive Communion.

If you receive Communion with a grave, possibly mortal sin on your soul that has not been absolved, then you are committing another grave sin by receiving Communion unworthily.

So it’s dangerous for you to tell people that if you just ask God, he will forgive “ALL your sins”. Sounds like Protestant thinking. Are you Catholic?

You can pray for your sins to be washed away as you go up to receive Christ in order to increase your reverence and make you think of this element of the reception. I think about Jesus washing me white as snow like he says he does in Psalm 51. . Perhaps if you are scholarly, then memorise a little of it. Catholic Prayers: Psalm 51: Miserere

Hang on doesn’t the kyrie at the beginning of mass deal with venial sin ?

It does. So does crossing yourself with holy water when you walk in.
But so does the Eucharist.
And I am very grateful for that on days when I get to Mass late and the church has no holy water in the font.

Yes, The Eucharist forgives venial sin.
If you have a well formed conscience and have discerned the venial from the Mortal, confessed all mortal sin and then go to the Eucharist, you are in a state of Grace.

I don’t have a problem with a little bit of feelings of guilt when venial sin is concerned. All sin is abhorrent to God and we should feel guilty. If that extends into scrupulous issues or consume your mind and soul with thoughts of guilt then obviously you are not formed well theologically. But if a person has guilt and sorrow and a feeling of shame… that is not always bad, and can show remorse and a love for God.
