But yes, the SDA’s claim that the the Catholic Church is the ‘Beast Power’…
…And this beast power will actively hunt down those that keep the Sabbath.
…As others have mentioned this was one of the prophetic utterances of Ellen White.
…Along with her creature christ teaching.

Hello everyone,

As a former SDA I can attest to the SDA belief in a universal “Sunday Law” that will be passed by the Pope and the United States Government. How this gets spread throughout the world they only speculate on…but since this entire belief is merely speculation, then the sky is the limit on how SDAs fill in the blanks. SDAs follow the Ellen G. White story, of which this is an important part, not the Bible Story contrary to what they claim.

Sad to say, I once believed this. Since I converted to Catholicism it has been very eye opening to me that most Catholics have never heard of SDAs. But SDAs like to believe they are on the minds and in the thoughts of Catholics all the time.

The notion that Catholics will one day be chasing SDAs through the streets and woods, hunting them down to kill them for going to church on saturday rather than sunday is a bit (a lot bit) insane. Especially since Catholics can go to church every day of the week, including twice on saturday, as someone pointed out above.

And as insane as this sounds, I at one time really believed it, as do most SDAs. I thank God daily that He delivered me from that insanity. I have thought about it much and am not sure whether these cults like Seventh-day Adventism, LDS, Jehovah Witnesses, etc. appeal to people of a certain mindset and psychological make-up; or whether there is some demonic supernatural power that deceives and misleads people who are searching for spiritual truth. I would feel better about myself if the latter was the reason, but perhaps both reasons and perhaps others come into play.

It was a long journey for me to come home to God’s Church, mostly because of the SDA mind that I developed. Fortunately God is bigger than our small minds, and His grace, and love, and mercy for us is limitless. Please join me in praying for SDAs.

I once had a long talk with a woman manning (womaning?) an SDA information booth at a fair. She told me that Jesuits were infiltrating the SDA, becoming preachers and leading their people away from SDA beliefs. If only it were true!

I told her that what she believed was up to her, but it was wrong to spread false information about the Catholic Church. I was able to explain a few things about Catholic beliefs & she may even have believed me. I thought I would see her again at another local fair so we could contine the conversation (she was a very nice person), but I never saw her again.

Addendum to my last post:
Yes Ellen White did have a vision in that the Pope(s) changed the Sabbath Day
and we could never find out which Pope of course did that for it’s not in the
vision nor is it true.

Interestingly enough none of the SDA’s had once clue we had Saturday Masses of course.
If we were planing to kill anyone that worshipped on Saturday I hardly think we’d OK a Mass that “counts for the true Sabbath on Sunday” It was struly frightening to hear their doctrine and read about how persecuted the Catholic Church would be at end times and
of course they are the little remnant of the saved for they will go underground to keep the Sabbath.
Hugely frightening to read about that someone could possibly believe such things and be indoctrinated into it so easily.

It’s too bad more people don’t realize how feverish SDA’s are about promulgating Arianism. Their creature Christ doctrine should send chills up anyone’s spine. I agree with you that they are very anti Catholic. Reason being is that Catholics believe in the Trinity while SDA’s Christology centers around rank Arianism.

Ever heard of this? Seventh Day Adventist eschatology proclaims that the Pope and world political leaders will enforce a Sunday Law and kill anybody who still worships on the true Sabbath, Saturday.

I think it’s safe to say that this is a lie based on how the world treats the Pope and the RCC.

Seventh Day Adventism is somewhat divided on matters like eschatology and especially the particulars of the ‘last days’; some Seventh Day Adventists are rather liberal and accepting of other Christians while others are very sectarian and reject Catholics and most Protestant groups as essentially apostate. The ones that are most likely to make a fuss about “Sunday laws” are from the sectarian end of the SDA spectrum.

…And that while they believed Catholicism was “the mark of the beast” they thanked me for showing them proofs they didn’t even know about!

I don’t think friend Ellen made that definitive statement…if I remember her words correctly she stated something to the effect…“it could occur”…“it could happen”…“it was possible for it to happen”…not that it would happen.

Oh, well that makes me feel much better about her.

It is almost a fundamental belief of Seventh Day Adventists that Catholicism is the “mother of harlots” from Revelation 17. Their fundamental beliefs stipulate that Ellen White exercised the gift of prophecy and her writings identify Catholicism with the woman in Rev 17.

If you ever happen across a book written by her and called THE GREAT CONTROVERSY you will find page after page of slurs against the Catholic Church.​

SDA Fundamental Belief #18 says: The Gift of Prophecy:
One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is prophecy. This gift is an identifying mark of the remnant church and was manifested in the ministry of Ellen. G. White . As the Lord’s messenger, her writings are a continuing and authoritative source of truth which provide for the church comfort, guidance, instruction, and correction. They also make clear that the Bible is the standard by which all teaching and experience must be tested.
