The only regrets I have are for the things I did not do; the chances I did not take. Love is by its nature a bit foolish. The romantic aspect of love has a spontaneity about it; a throwing caution to the wind and acting on instinct instead of thought.
I think this is reflected in the Gospel passage where the sinful woman pour out oil on Jesus’ feet. That was a foolish act of love in front of all of the religious leaders. It was spontaneous and out of place, but Jesus praised her.
Your youth is not going to last forever. One day you will wake up and your youth will have passed. And it will happen sooner than you think.
So whether it is this girl or someone else, do not be afraid to be a little foolish. Do not try so hard to intellectualize every encounter, and just throw yourself forward trusting in God to take care of you in this wonderful adventure of life.
