Who would you say is the God of the Old Testament? God the Father or God the Son?
The Triune God – God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.Who would you say is the God of the Old Testament? God the Father or God the Son?
That would be an interesting debate. I am actually quite interested in Manichaeism, the old religion that claimed the OT God was actually evil and that the Father God whom Jesus spoke of was different from the Jewish tribal God we find in the OT. But I would not try to argue that because I’m pretty sure Jesus followed and believed in Judaism.By the title it seemed as if you were going to argue a discontinuity between the OT God and NT God. I was getting pumped for a debateCool question though
I agree, that sounds a little off. That would be an interesting debate. I joined the Catholic Church about 13 years ago but ended up rejecting the whole Christian religion latter on. My main influence now is the writer ‘Marcus J. Borg’ and I still attend the occasional Catholic Mass.Out of curiosity, what religion are ya Vimy?![]()
Regarding the underlined, doesn’t Hebrews tell us that the Rock that followed Israel through the desert was Christ? The Father and Spirit. Jesus was around in eternity but obviously He wasn’t yet meant for earth.
I’ve heard some crazies say that Jesus was Melchizadek in the OT. What nuts!

You’d know better than meRegarding the underlined, doesn’t Hebrews tell us that the Rock that followed Israel through the desert was Christ?
Regarding Melchizedek, the best guess I’ve heard is that Shem, the righteous son of Noah, was Melchizedek. The reason the claim is made of Jesus as Melchizedek is because he is the King of Righteousness and the King of Peace. Also, Hebrews mentions that He had no beginning and no end (paraphrasing).
But Jewish tradition and many Catholic Theologians agree that Melchizedek is Shem, who was still alive during Abraham’s lifetime.
One further note upon thinking about Jesus being Melchizedek. You’d know better than meThanks, I don’t remember hearing that before
