According to Christians every Hindu, Muslem, Buddhist, Shinto follower, and every other religion is living a lie, and some of those have been around longer than 2000 years, is it really that difficult to fathom?
For the incredulous, cynical, doubtful or untrusting person, no it is not. Remember that all religions have some degree of truth in them. What we dispute is the degree of truth in each.

BTW, the thread title is completely misleading. From this tiny fragment of papyrus that was written perhaps hundreds of years post-Christ, no one can say, with any certainty, just what or to whom it refers.

Remember all of the ballyhoo about the graves marked “Jesus, Mary and Joseph” a few years ago? Was claimed as a possible refuation of Christianity.

Hi, Hunter24,

I notice you omitted the Wiccan group. Was this intentional? 😃

God bless

This sounds like The Da Vinci Code all over again. Perhaps it’s an attempt to cast doubt upon Christians as to who Jesus really is.

Hi, Mexolic,

The 1st Century Scribes and Pharisees tried to do that, too. The only real lesson from this is that the Devil is incapable of either learning or of changing his behavior. It really is repititious - and that is pretty bad when mere humans can see the pattern! 😃

God bless

No details on the wedding shower? Father Zuhlsdorf was struggling . . . do we address her as Mrs Christ or Ms Christ?

According to huffingtonpost, there is a new document that was discovered suggesting that Jesus was married.

Gospel of Jesus wife discovered

I’m not sure where Christians stand on Jesus being married or single, but judging by the article, it sounds to alarmistic too me. Even if Christ was married, that still doesn’t hinder his teachings nor resurrection.

Thoughts?
I have not read this thread, but I wanted to say that I was told that Jesus was a popular name at that time and even if it was not it would still be hard to prove it was really him or just a story heard or told to someone. I take everything with a grain of salt. 🤷

lol no i just threw out a few major world religious, and mine isnt major sooooo… 😃

Also i was aiming for older ones sense he referenced 2000 years of monastic and hermetic tradition, and Wicca was only organized and codified in the 1930’s, even if parts and influences are thousands of years old.

Jesus was married. . . .to the Church, i.e., she is the “Bride of Christ”, and therefore “wife”. The Huffington Post and other media outlets assume “wife” to be a woman because it is more sensational, that, and well, they don’t know jack about Christianity.

I just want to know what He turned the water into this time around. 😉

MarySweet,

Jesus was a common name. In fact, there was another Jesus in the New Testament:

Colossians 4:10-11

English Standard Version (ESV)

10 Aristarchus my fellow prisoner greets you, and Mark the cousin of Barnabas (concerning whom you have received instructions—if he comes to you, welcome him), 11 and Jesus who is called Justus. These are the only men of the circumcision among my fellow workers for the kingdom of God, and they have been a comfort to me.

I mean no offense to anyone but It is difficult for me to believe this thread is still alive. We have a very good record of the life of Jesus Christ; at least his public ministry, both in Scripture and Sacred Tradition. Not a mention, not even a hint that Jesus had a wife. Is there really any serious question about this? Simply amazing what people can fall for.
