The green issue that dare not speak its name

Easy.
Given the way you have spoken of the topic in this thread and others, one could readily understand that you believe it wholeheartedly.
This “possibility” is the first many here have ever heard you question the certitude of these theories.

However, you hinged your suicide on an IF to the entire theory.

So much for your faithfulness in the topic.
You either believe it or you do not. You do not, else you would no longer be here.

You are either not being honest with yourself or you are not being honest with the people on this board.
I believe there is a significant chance. Of course, my knowledge is imperfect so my suicide pact is based on the veracity of a contingency.

I am not infallible so excuse me for not believing in that scenario with absolute certainity.

But why take the chance? Act now, and avoid the rush. Better safe than sorry, and all that.😛

Then what are we to make of all of the instances in which you spoke of these scenarios with absolute certainty?

Are you changing positions?

Did I ever say that it will happen with absolute certainity? I believe that there is a non-trivial chance (probably about 50/50 my guess) that it will happen and it is worthy of significant concern.

:rotfl:
ribozyme, I can’t even imagine the thousands of people who will be committing suicide alongside you if what you say does indeed happen.
He should think of the risks he’s taking by delaying his departure – his local Wal-Mart may run out of ammunition, and he’ll be stuck here on earth with the rest of us.😛

Hey, you never know. 😉

I have friends who have armories in their basement (lots and lots of every kind of small arms weapon) because they are waiting for the next revolution. Maybe he could buy some from them when Wal-mart runs out…

Well, I live in the country, have livestock and a heck of a big dog, know how to garden, fish, hunt and shoot, and can be meaner than cat s*** if I need to be.

I think I’ll just survive instead of killing myself. Sooner live in the woods than in hell anyway. Now, plowing would be a lot easier if I could trade Vern out of one of his donkeys. If I could get a jack from him, I could breed some mares and have some mules to trade.

Hey Vern!!!

We can talk – bring your mare over and Jonah can cover her.😛

Ribozyme, you’re killing me. :banghead:

We’ve already figured out the solution to the population problem like forever ago. We colonize other planets. They’re already subsidizing condos on Mars (admittedly for the wealthy, what else would you expect of the current White House administration?).

For those afraid of heights, the Isolationist Empire in the Gnomish fiefdoms of Subterrainea has fallen, and I hear they might start renting out visas in the more leftist regions. If you can’t qualify for a green card, I’m sure you could hire a Gringopher to get you across for a couple of those far out wood chips.

Our last option, and this is only last resort. We can all jump into the Pacific Ocean. Approximately 0.0103% of us will evolve into merpeople. Thats for you Las Vegas thrill seekers in the Sierra Mts.

As for me, I think I’ll vote Obama '08. Thats a guarantee fix-all right there. (Don’t expect Ribo to pick up too fast though, after all, he did quote George Soros in his signature, how quick could he be?)

Define “slow”? I presume you mean mentally inept? What makes quoting George Soros a sign of my alleged lack of intelligence?

You are probably being sarcastic. I do not think a political candidate alone will solve this. And I also infer sarcasm because it seems unlikely that a person with your political views will vote for Obama.

“We can’t cover everything for everyone,” Dr. Walter Shaffer, a spokesman for the state Division of Medical Assistance Programs, told the paper. “Taxpayer dollars are limited for publicly funded programs. We try to come up with policies that provide the most good for the most people.”
Well sex change operations [gender reassignment] for prison inmates have been approved under the Oregon Health Plan - so perhaps under funding is not the only issue but how the funds are spent and on what …

No one is guaranteed a “problem” free existance … death is as sure as taxes … population control is at its very core the promotion of limiting others to benefit me … Ted Turner has his life … he sees no problem with limiting the life of others [by whatever means … abortion, euthanasia, sterilizations] … and of course like those pioneers who came before [Margaret Sanger, Hitler et al] I am sure he has thoughts about those who shoud be limited in reproducing and those who should be allowed to procreate … and in what numbers [becuase you do need the occasional housekeeper and gardner] …

It like the elite who want to control the land [Turner, Kerry - how many homes are neessary for happiness?, Kennedy] … they buy their piece of the landscape then lobby to have public land turned into wilderness areas and then prevent any access by the "common folks’ … or wind energy is fine … just not off the coast where Cronkite and Kennedy live [NIMBY elitism]…

Reduce your carbon foot print Al Gore and his energy guzzling house [whose energy consumption increased after the “green remodel” ] galavanting [in a private jet] around the world promoting his “Movie” … ever heard of video conferencing? or just including your preamble with the video?

Ted Turner … Nope ---- don’t care what he thinks 🤷

I promise I am not being sarcastic. If you are going to complain the way our planet is headed healthwise, at least have an open mind to consider alternatives to your birth control policy, which cannot be implemented feasibly without severely violating many Church doctrines. I suggested a few possible options, and you are encouraged to come up with better ones. Make sure you have a bullet proof plan before you throw your weight behind it, since you’ve already put yourself at odds with Mother Teresa, a highly respected figure in all religions, let alone in the Church.:coffeeread:

I do not see how Mother Teresa’s teachings are conducive to improving quality of life, but I personally have higher regard for philosophers and ethicists such as Peter Singer and John Rawls.
