Hi Alice, I to went to the website you posted and do not like what I saw! Is there any other site one might go for a (2nd. if that site is not biased) unbiased look on that case? Also, what do you think your bishop is afreid of?đŸ€·
Thanks and God bless!

Hey Like,

Your signature borders on blasphemy:
“No Mary, No Jesus
Know Mary, Know Jesus”

Jesus created Mary
He was and is and is to come
He was before Mary and existence does not rely upon Our Mother. Be careful my brother.

 And this has WHAT to do with the topic at hand???

I’m going to weigh on this one and side with Sure, being a member of the Diocese of Rockford.

One reason I can think of Bishop Doran moving Father Bartolemeo: He is over 70, came to the priesthood late, and may not be “up” to handling two cantankerous people. Perhaps His Excellency did not feel leaving an older man with only a year or two under his belt in the job was a good idea.

Priests aren’t so much afraid of Bishop Doran or Monsignor Barr. They are very afraid of Monsignor Kagan, and with good reason.

Monsignor Barr is the “good cop”. He is the one who takes priests out to lunch and gently reasons with them, jokes with them. He is very much personable, likable, a man’s man, good pastor, likes women but not too much, great with kids. Prior to his current position, he was the pastor of Old Parish. He had the numbers up to 1200+ families in a changing neighborhood with two other parishes in close proximity, and built a much needed parish center, with a school of over 400 students. Sadly, the next man has it down to about 500 families, with 650 on paper, and under 270 students.

Monsignor Kagan is dry, an academic, and while a good, orthodox priest, has trouble “thinking outside the box” in the sense of rules. Go read his column in the Observer. He only tends to see them two ways, and that’s as either broken or followed. A priest does not want Monsignor Kagan to show up at his parish- as he is wont to do, unannounced, if something is wrong. There will be no lunchtime conversation. There will be results, pronto. He is not a comfortable polish cloth, but somewhat abrasive sandpaper. If Monsignor Kagan is at a rectory or parish office door, something is terribly wrong.

The St. Peter Geneva and Father Campobello situation is much more complicated than the link provides. For one thing, the Kane County States Attorney wanted to go through every last employee and religious file the diocese had, not only those necessary for the court case. If I were the people of CAF, I would do my own research on this one, starting with the Kane County Chronicle, Daily Herald, Observer, Kane County court records (they are not sealed).

Thank you Alice and OutinChgoburbs,

I looks like I still need to look in to this some more. I believe I did see some articles from the papers you mentioned Outin. Those articles were on that website. If our Bishop did abuse his power and had help from Kagan and Barr, then this is really big. I was surprised and upset as to what he did to Fr. Bartolomeo and when I went to the suggested sight, I found he has been a very busy man. What a shame all of this had to happen. I saw where there is a link for “The Rock” and is some kind of a talk show. It has some archived shows. I haven’t listened to all of them yet. I’m starting from the beginning and what I’ve heard so far hasn’t convinced me that our Bishop is on the up and up. Still researching this, though. Trying to keep an open mind. God Bless.

Hi Like-

Although CTL has an opinion on this subject they do print all opinions - those that agree and those that disagree. www.ctlnyc.com is actually the most concise source of information - not only their own opinions but others too. Personally I do not write letters to our local media as I find them biased and anti-Catholic but I know people who have written and was told that one local paper **changed **the wording of a letter! (To me, that is bias!) CTL has posted letters to the editors of the local papers that the local papers didn’t publish (I wonder why letters to the editor go unpublished.) The Kane County Chronicle, Daily Herald and Sun News have articles in their archives that you can access for a little or no fee - you can access most of the same articles in a concise manner on the CTL site. The Observer, being our Discesean paper, is quite obviously biased.

The story of “Forsaken” (the documentary by CTL) is the story of one parish but it speaks volumes about what our priests suffer.

Peace,
Alice

Jesus became incarnate through His mother. THe Word became flesh
" through His mother.

Are you denying that? Maybe I misunderstand what you are trying to say.

Where is the blasphemy? I am missing it!

Mary has brought many many people to Jesus! they have found their way to Jesus through her. So yes To Know Mary is to Know Jesus!

I’m sorry for throwing a curveball post
the second portion of the signature regarding Mary pointing us to Jesus is fine
 but the first part
yes Mary bore Jesus and was created specifically for this function
yes she is the Queen Mother of our Lord
but to say “No Mary, No Jesus” is to say that Jesus does not exist without Mary
 this borders on blasphemy.

Jesus created Mary and WAS long before Mary was created
since before the foundations of the earth were laid
 before the beginning of time
our Lord WAS. To say No Mary, No Jesus is not correct, nor is it wise.

Sorry Captain! I think I know where your coming from, but please re-think (is that a word?) it and see & click on next line (link) below it.
God Bless!

Yeah that IS a cool link. I followed it earlier when I was checking out your signature line.

No arguments there
just with the first line. Maybe it’s because I’m new to the Fullness of the Faith
not even a member yet(not until Easter God-willing).

I know what you’re saying, but it stretches the clichĂ© a bit too far
doesn’t quite fit it correctly. We must be careful in the statements we make
that they are theologically correct and not capable of being twisted. A protestant would have a heyday with that line
and I believe that they’d be right.

Well, you certainly have a right to your opinion. However you are the first to object to it & I had it quite some time now.

BTW, Welcome to the Church!👍

I’m digging the link even more now. I love the Marian Doctrine page on that site. It is amazing how eloquent much of Catholic writing is
I always considered the protestant to be the intellectual one
but I am truly stretched when I read some of the works produced by Catholic minds.

Anyway, the site is cool, but the signature still has serious issues.

aaronlgates - Fr. Tom was an associate pastor so is not listed in the directory of parishes for the Diocese, the parish itself does not have a Web site. He was most recently at St. James Parish, 428 N. Second St., Rockford, IL 61107.

I’ve asked around, no one seems to know where he is currently. If you send a note marked “personal” it may be forwarded to him, although our Chancery has been known to meddle in the affairs of parish offices so there may be an order in place to not forward any mail directly to Fr. Tom.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Fr. Tom has Googled himself and found all the messages of support - the Chancery has yet to find a way to shut down the World Wide Web.

Peace,
Alice

Yeah
mild in comparison with what the real blasphemers will do out in the world. I can’t believe what they’ll put on the TV these days
my wife and I gave up our TV 13 years ago, and we will never go back.

How dare the priest be sacked for doing what the Church Magesterium has decreed about the ethics of NFP.

Furthermore a ‘homosexual couple’ got offended? WELL I DON’T CARE, homosexual acts don’t have tolerance in the catholic faith, this isn’t about trying to make everyone feel good, if it’s contradicting the faith.

If really what that website says is the truth and the whole picture, that bishop should be sacked. WHY NOT talk about NFP at church ? It’s about time, there are far too many catholics that ignore the church’s teaching and use condoms and stuff instead.

The average catholic has no understanding of philosophy or theology, As if the church should let someone who has no experience with ‘morals’ and issues related to doctrine and early church actions on the issue decide for themselves.

FFS, most people don’t even know or read an encyclical or theology of the body.
