The importance of silence in Christianity

The book may differ. Perhaps a sad indicator of the age in which we live, the article has not a single reference to the most silent, contemplative, suffering heart of all: Mary.
“She pondered all these things in her heart”

We say the rosary before mass -
And there’s about 20 of us saying it -
But there’s two men - who say the Hail Mary - so loud !
I can’t even hear my voice - when it’s being recited.
I used to sit in the same row - as the loud mouth -
But I moved up 5 rows -
I can’t hear - my own voice !
And he’s so proud too - lol - he’s about 80 years old -
Blue jeans - white tight tee shirt - about 5 foot tall -
The women all about me - they sometimes flinch from his tone and volume -
The other guy - same age - same volume - I think they could be competing !
But his voice is monotone - no life to the words - almost sounds bored -
But loud -
I can’t hear the ladies sweet voices -
One guy is like a tuba player, the other a bad trumpet player !

That’s the case for a man in my parish, I know. He is a gentle, kind, faithful man, but hard of hearing. I don’t think he realizes at all how loudly he prays - but God knows his heart, and hears him in truth.
