If you attend Protestant bible classes as a Catholic, you are in heresy. If you attend Protestant churches, you are in heresy as a Catholic. If you attend not knowing your Catholic faith, you are just plain foolish.
How long are we going to have to put with this sort of nonsense? It’s becoming more and more apparent that you are only here to disrupt conversation.

This is where I’m going. I do believe that Jesus started the Catholic Church. I replied yes to that yesterday. The churches that didn’t join Rome were still Christians. My brother-in-law and his family are members of the Armenian Church. He and my sister were married in the Catholic Church. If you are not under the authority of the Pope you are still under the authority of Jesus.
ron77,

There appears to be many good Catholics that are worried about you. Just as I am. I will not say Protestants aren’t going to heaven. Our faith does not dictate that. I will say that for one to not participate in the Holy Eucharist for a symbol is disturbing to me. Christ died on the cross and we participate in that event at mass. We believe in living as Christ did. Living to help others, sacrifice for others, hold ourselves to an accountability higher than others. Do we all do this everyday? No, but that is our calling. Do not be mislead. Catholics have a mission on this Earth to provide the truth to man and evangelize. Did Mother Theresa want to go to India with no money or shelter to save the poor and diseased. Did she want to hold thousands of dying people in her arms. Holding them, giving them comfort in their last breath. She did it because Christ called her to do it. We are called to serve the world. This is not an easy life; yet, it is the life Christ called us to. Christ called you to be part of the one Church and to help your fellow man. Do not be mislead with half truths. Do not be mislead with propaganda such as “inclusiveness”. Serve the Lord with all your heart and might. Believe in the Holy Eucharist and it will transform you. We need Catholics with conviction and heart. You have this. Do not leave. Lead our faith and become united with the Eucharist. God bless you!

Oh, I think ignorance is a very viable possibility. 😉

I agree that ignorance can be disruptive also, but that is also part of the reason we are here. There may be just as many ignorant Catholics as there are Protestants.

And sadly, bigotry is not limited to religious affiliation.

For the record, I agree that a poorly catechized Catholic places themselves at risk participating in Protestant Bible study.

Ron77 Please listen to what Perry is saying to you. We are not trying to condem or hurt you. We just want you to really understand what the Eucharist really is.

The Pope wrote something once here is how it went. I am putting it into my words now Ron, and someone correct me (anyone) if i misumderstood but here it is:

We as Catholics are taught the fullness of the truth, if we were not taught it we are not responsibe, but if we do know the truth and were taught it, and then turn away from it our soul is in grave danger. Thats what i think our point is really for you. Please before you leave the Church know what you are truely leaving. Learn your faith a little more ron before you walk away thats all.

Trust me we all have alot to learn, dont get me wrong, and as far a being a Catholic God will teach us until the day we die. If we ask he will open our eyes to new things everyday. But please study more, i believe if you do, you will understand what we are saying.

I have no intention of leaving the Catholic Church. I never did. Churchcamefirst is giving me the ultimatum. I don’t know who he is. Is he a cardinal or a bishop?

Oh cool, Thats wonderful. I guess i misunderstood things. I am so glad to hear you are sticking with the CC. Believe me Ron i never really understood about he Eucharist either, my Dad is who taught me. That is how i understood the real difference. I truely do understand what you are saying about the protestant Religions too ron, i really do, they also have some truth. They are doing the best they can also. but the big thing my Dad always said they are also good people. but God opened our eyes to the CC. And once we receive that gift we cant turn our back on it. He did tell me someday we will all reunite back to one church. I guess not anytime soon unfortunately. But who knows. But he did say we will become ONe Holy Catholic Apostolic Church like we once were.

Well, when someone who spouts stuff like “If you attend Protestant bible classes as a Catholic, you are in heresy.” it’s kind hard to just ignore them. 😉

Okay, but seriously, yes you’re right about ignorance. But consider this: Suppose one person says “If you attend Protestant bible classes as a Catholic, are you in heresy?” and somebody else says “If you attend Protestant bible classes as a Catholic, you are in heresy.” Both people are clearly ignorant, but what the second person is doing is much worse than what the first person is doing, right?

Okay Peter J i totally agree we dont want this to get out of hand, thats not what this is about.

But between you and I now. If a Catholic goes to a protestant bible study, what is the difference of going to a bible study and reading the bible yourself. I mean isnt that one big difference between the Catholics and the Protestants, arent we supposed to be taught the bible first. If we go to a protestant bible study are they not teaching us what they think it means? Just asking?

Neither, but at least I know my Catholic faith and don’t complain about it. Apparently you are not happy with the Catholic church or else you wouldn’t be saying the things you say.
Other Catholics here are similar to how you think…sad.

**Peter, it is true that if you attend bible classes in a Protestant church you are in heresy whether you like it or not. THEY DO NOT HAVE THE SAME BIBLES AS WE DO. Why do I even have to explain this to a Catholic??? 🤷 **

If we could only be like you. How do you do it?

Aside from your sarcasm, I told you. I am a Roman Catholic. I follow what Jesus entrusted to Peter, 266 popes later to the current pope. The Vicar of Christ. I love my church and my Catholic faith. To have love is a must. A love for Christ and his church. An undying love, unconditional for my church. To defend my Catholic church from others, defending Christ. Till the end.

churchcamefirst I think Ron just has some questions, and needs to understand the teachings better. I dont think its that he is not happy with the Church he just needs to understand things better. We all have questions about our faith, No one knows everything. Would it not be better if we tried to help him to understand better then to ask him to leave. I just think that its better to pray for people and try to help the best way we can.

We all learn in the end its not the Churchs teachings that we didnt agree with, it what we thought the Churchs teachings were. When we understand better, we become more close to Christ and eachother wouldnt you say?

No, I don’t believe he just has questions. Not from his posts. Why doesn’t he just research the faith and learn more about Catholicism? Scott Hahn has some great books out there, being a convert as he was.
Ron has many complaints about the Catholic church. I just thought he’d be better off in a Protestant church. After all, he said he was happy there with that church. It is better than being miserable where he is. That’s all. Christ will lead him anyway.

Lots of Catholics have complaints and questions. Shouting at them does not help them come to terms with their objections. GK Chesterton once said that he would have converted years before he did if it hadn’t been for one thing: Catholics!

That’s the problem, uneducated Catholics!!
