No, I don’t believe he just has questions. Not from his posts. Why doesn’t he just research the faith and learn more about Catholicism? Scott Hahn has some great books out there, being a convert as he was.
Ron has many complaints about the Catholic church. I just thought he’d be better off in a Protestant church. After all, he said he was happy there with that church. It is better than being miserable where he is. That’s all. Christ will lead him anyway.
Right now I’m attending an excellent Protestant Church. I can’t say that I will remain there for the rest of my life. During the 1980’s I was involved with the born again Christians and after hearing how crazy they were I searched for a Catholic bible study to answer my questions. Trying to find a Catholic bible study is not easy. If they had them when I was in school I don’t think I would have been taken on a roller coaster ride.
You have no authority to kick people out of the Church. You have a lot of religious pride. You might think that’s good but it really isn’t.

Well I guess we just see things differently, i dont see him as complaining I see him as searching, and I think its better if we helped him to understand the best we can. My goal is to keep him in the church not turn him alway.

Lots of Catholics have complaints and questions. Shouting at them does not help them come to terms with their objections. GK Chesterton once said that he would have converted years before he did if it hadn’t been for one thing: Catholics!
Exactly Mercygate, We all have misunderstandings about the Church. We are supposed to help eachother i though not say my way or the highway.

Right now you say you are attending an excellent Protestant church? And these people say that I AM THE ONE keeping you out of a Catholic church? Go ahead, now is your chance to hit on me as a devout and loyal Catholic.
Every Catholic church has a bible study…EVERY ONE. I am sorry, but I do not feel sorry for you. You can fool others, but not me. You have kicked yourself out of the Catholic church. It is you that has the religious pride.

Hey! My house. Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. You’ll get a trip through the Bible that will knock your socks off! There’s so much Holy Spirit around my dining room table that there’s hardly any room for the people. We’re using Jeff Cavins’ Great Adventure Seminar series. 👍

Thats okay ron, I may be considered a horrible person for saying this but anyone who wants to learn about God, its fine in my book. The only thing that I can say Ron, and again this is my Opinion only, it would be hard for me, because of the Churchs teachings i would kind a get confused is all. But thats okay, but If i could make a suggestion, go to the Protestant bible study, it will not hurt you, then if possible go to a Catholic bible study. Then you can learn first hand what the real differences are.

I believe for some people they take different roads to lead them back to the church. And thats okay too. But dont give up on us thats all. I have enough faith in our Catholic Church to believe it will lead you home. God Bless you ron.

No Catholic bible studies where I live.

That’s the problem, uneducated Catholics!!
Ignorance is definitely part of the problem; but like I told guanophore, there’s a big different between someone saying “If you attend Protestant bible classes as a Catholic, are you in heresy?” and somebody saying “If you attend Protestant bible classes as a Catholic, you are in heresy.”

YOU ARE COMMITTING HERESY IF YOU ATTEND PROTESTANT BIBLE CLASSES AS A CATHOLIC. This is a fact Peter, ask your priest.

One can buy and read them.

You could start one yourself. Perhap Christ is tugging at your heart to do this and to evangelize to other Catholics. To create a Catholic community that can learn the Bible together.

I have one concern with your current path. You will not learn the full truth from a Protestant Bible study.

First their Bibles are often translated different with words that fit their theology.

Misinterpretations build on themselves. The Eucharist is throughout the Bible as such there will be numerous areas that are misinterpreted by a Protestant Bible study group.

Would you learn physics from a chemistry book?

Lastly, if you do go down this path do not be afraid of being Catholic. Profess your faith to the Protestants. They only have a partial truth. You have access to the full truth.

I do not attend bible study at the church I now go to. I worship there on Sunday. No one is telling me to take or not to take communion. No one is telling me anything anti-Catholic. I learned the differences in religions a long time ago. I would not tolerate words from a pastor that are anti any religion. I know who I believe in and what I believe in. I criticize the Catholic Church because I grew up in it. I take responsibility for that fault. If I were raised as a Protestant I probably would have even more to complain about. I don’t have a problem worshiping with people from different churches. I still have friends in the Catholic church who I worship with when I’m invited. They know where I worship on Sunday and it’s not a problem to them. My family is Catholic also. It’s not a problem to them. It was never a problem to anyone until I started talking about it on this forum. I was very surprised.

I think what you are noticing is a characteristic, not of CAF in particular, but of religious discussion forums on the internet. 😦

and hence ron starts is “PROTESTING.” Technically speaking, you are Pseudo Catholic.

When is Jesus ever not with you?
You donj’t read between the words too well do you? I said “Therefore Christ would not be with you in the same way when receiving communion in a Protestant Church as when receiving in a Catholic Church.”

Seriously, why do you not start a Bible study at the Catholic Church. I am sure you are not the only one looking for this at your Church. (I am not trying to be negative to the Protestant Church.)

I agree with ron77nyc saying that it is difficult to find a Catholic Bible Study. One of our local CC is hosting The Great Adventure Bible Study with a very big group of over 100 people signed up for the class. From speaking with my Catholic friends there is a longing to dig deeper in the Bible for many Catholics. This is a very good thing that the CC is doing for the church members, I believe. I think that many Catholics have turned to other churches for Bible studies because their churches did not offer it and meet their needs. greatadventureonline.com/

Someone mentioned doing a Bible study on their own. Honestly, it is not the same thing as a real Bible Study. It is fantastic to share the Bible with others and our Faith–shoot, I think that is why many of us are here.

God Bless!
