That’s pretty over-the-top…show evidence in either the catechism, code of canon law, or papal decree that attending a protestant bible study is heretical? Taking communion with protestants is sinful according to catholic tradition and teaching. There is much written about that. But just attending a Bible ‘study’ is, not to my knowledge, heretical or evil. I think we need to be careful in issuing blanket statements like this.

The Protestant bible is different from the Catholic bible. Get it? You will be committing heresy by attending as a Catholic studying from a bible with much error in it (KJV). Get it? Good grief…🤷 Don’t ask me. Ask your priest.

I agree with ron77nyc saying that it is difficult to find a Catholic Bible Study. One of our local CC is hosting The Great Adventure Bible Study with a very big group of over 100 people signed up for the class. From speaking with my Catholic friends there is a longing to dig deeper in the Bible for many Catholics. This is a very good thing that the CC is doing for the church members, I believe. I think that many Catholics have turned to other churches for Bible studies because their churches did not offer it and meet their needs. greatadventureonline.com/

Someone mentioned doing a Bible study on their own. Honestly, it is not the same thing as a real Bible Study. It is fantastic to share the Bible with others and our Faith–shoot, I think that is why many of us are here.

The Great Adventure program is the one I am using. We’re starting with the 8-week version and will train our 12-member group to be team-leaders through the 24-week study. This is an OUTSTANDING program. Absolutely outstanding!
 
I am board member for our Athletic Association and I hear from parents say things like “I wish they would do a fund raiser and put bleachers here”. Is it not their Church also? Is it not their kids in the program? Why do people always say I wish “they”. Who is the “they”? There is no they. There is us.

We did not believe enough men were involved in our Parish. Six of us took the initiative and created a men’s group that meets once a month with speakers. This is a spiritual ministry. Not a get together to drink beer. We have Catholic priests, coaches, and professors come and speak to our men. These speakers help men understand their role in the community and with their family. From this Men’s Ministry we now have 40 regular attendees and 3 small faith groups that study the Bible and books about our faith. We help other organizations do charity work. We work with our youth. We helped Rossalind Moss at her new convent. Etc. If you want something in your Parish do something about it. That is what we are called to do. The world does not revolve around you. It revolves around Christ. We are to take the initiative to evangelize and improve the world. There is no they. There is only us. If you want a Bible study then do it! Start one at your parish. The priests we have contacted have been wonderful and have gone out of their way to come to our meetings. They leave the meeting telling us to keep it going and to spread our ministry to other Parishes. Make a difference start a Bible study at your Parish if you need one. It is your Parish.
