IMHO Sharon decided he was never going to make peace with the Palestinians so he unilaterally built a wall of separation and established borders between Israel and the Palestinians.

We will see if that is continued by his successor, and if it will succeed in the long run, if it is continued.

I see the Palestinians after being given Gaza are making it their own type of paradise (sarcasm). I also see they aren’t satisfied. They probably won’t be until Israel is driven into the sea.
