In reaction to the “Trump said nasty things” argument. I have never seen Trump hold a bloody, severed head of a political foe (or anyone for that matter). What Kathy Griffin did was tantamount to a death threat, Trump has never done that as far as I can recall.

She created her own problems. What she did is reprehensible no matter whose head she put on display. It’s her own fault if she got fired, not Trump’s.

Perhaps they disagree (for now) because this tactic was premature, America is not quite - yet - ready for this. In a few years this will be prime time stuff, and Griffin will be honored as a pioneer.

T
he irony is that the strongest defenders of Reason and opponents of Griffin, et alia, are mostly people who have not gone to college.

Time will not bear this out.

The irony is that the strongest defenders of Reason and opponents of Griffin, et alia, are mostly people who have not gone to college. Those who attend or graduated in recent years from “college”, such as state universities, don’t see anything wrong with Griffin. They are the ones who are most ready to abandon Reason, though unconsciously. They don’t know they are abandoning Reason, they simply are living on Gut Level, following the herd. Not all this is on the Left, but most of it is.Re: the bolded: What is your source?

When I read the comments on the internet from the Left regarding this, the comments were not about the stunt itself, but the reaction to it - how did it “spin”. It is to be expected that the comments did not show respect for President Trump. No one said, for instance, “I disagree with some or all his actions as president, but of course the man himself should be treated with respect”. The Left is unable to make that distinction now.
Not what I observed except from her fans. Those who knew about her, maybe watched a show in the past, condemned this “stunt” and were okay with her losing her job.

And I one of the reasons “the left” doesn’t show respect for Trump is because he repeatedly does things that undermine his image and position. He doesn’t act presidential. He lies. His tweets read like a middle schooler with all the insecurity that comes with puberty and grandiosity that is indicative of a mental condition. Son Eric said in an interview that those who oppose his father “aren’t even people.” I’m thinking that that acorn didn’t fall far from the tree.
What is surprising is how little the commenters appear to care about Griffin, personally. No one expresses concern about what stresses she was going under, to do something like this, nor concern about her own career prospects now. The only concern for this act, or any act now, is “how will this advance or delay the cause?”
I didn’t see anyone concerned about Griffin’s mental state, probably because this is not that surprising from her. If anyone was going to try to pull this, she is tasteless and abrasive enough to do it. That’s probably why no one seems concerned. And someone who comes across as abrasive as she does gives the impression that she has a thick skin.
Bishop Barron’s piece is crucial, because he ties this into historical context, and what is a flight from reason in the media and academia, by the Left. I think we are only a few years away from people on the Left (privately) justifying not only the actual violent elimination of the Trumps, but even the Griffins.
Funny. People on the left think the same thing about people on the right. The word dystopian come up a lot.

I had barely heard of Kathy Griffin before this happened, but it’s my understanding that any implied death threat against a sitting President gets the Secret Service knocking down your door. By the time I even found out about this, CNN had already fired her and Anderson Cooper was already criticizing her. Since CNN and Cooper are no fans of Trump and criticize him all day and all night, I figured this must have crossed some company policy line.
The beginning of this video is worth checking out. Yes, what is said at the beginning of the video is relevant to the Kathy Griffin situation.

The people on the Left are correct. Some people on the Right are indeed hostile, irrational, ready to use people as stepping stones for their agenda. Some attacks on Obama or Clinton are disgusting.

But people on the Right don’t have a lot of power in this country. People on the Left control the great majority of the media, almost all higher education, and much else, especially in health care and human services. Most billionaires who are politically active appear to be on the Left. Large corporations are no longer competing against Big Government, they want in on government contracts.

But if you know anything about Bishop Barron, he definitely is not on the Left, or the Right, in terms of public positions. He has a long history in the public eye. That’s why I cited that excerpt.

And just look at what the “people” on the left have done to our country. Who do you think put us in this horrible situation. And are doing their best to keep on destroying!! God Bless, Memaw

People defending the indefensible. Kathy has MADE A LIVING out of ridiculing and bullying people. And now she call foul? “he broke me?” She can’t be serious.
Stepped one letter grade down from the D list in my book.

I think I’ve seen it all.
I thought I did too! I am sure there is more to come!

Griffin caused her won troubles and can’t handle the consequences. What she did was unbelievable. And if you would take a good look at the tapes, Trump was not mimicking anyone. You choose to believe what you want and that’s exactly what the fake media wants you to believe! God Bless, Memaw
AMEN!

True. I’m sure her Catholic mom is mortified. She did a bit about her mom wanting a hymn to Our Lady sung at her funeral and really ridiculed the faith at that time as well.
People decry bullying among children and certain segments of society, but it’s open season on others. We’ve really got to pray for our country.
😦
As DH says, so correctly at that, Catholicism is the last acceptable prejudice!

That’s interesting to know. Thanks for the info.
Mary,

I feel recent grads have “drunk the Kool-Aid” from their ultra liberal teaching community, with reinforcement from fellow classmates. They want to be in the “in” crowd.

I’d never heard of Kathy Griffin before she pulled this stunt and as soon as she is yesterday’s news (hopefully soon) I’ll forget all about her.

I think that’s the most outrageous thing to come out of this. When even the left hung her out to dry she has the GALL to claim victimhood? 🤷
