Z mormons dont care about babies or they would baptize thier infants

Zerinus, think it through. The Catholic teaching is that no direct killing action against the baby is permitted because that is murder.

Look at it this way…imagine that some fella said that he was going to kill me and the only way I could save myself was to have you (an innocent third party) killed. What right do I have to take your life? Same principle applies, unless you think that the unborn infant is somehow less of a person.
But if both of them are going to die, which is better, to let both of them die, or save one of them and let the other die? If two people are drowning, and you are only able to save one of them, which is better, to save one, or do nothing and let both die?

If God wants the mother alive HE will save her

Zerinus,

Try to save them both, if not able to, save one. However, that is entirely different than KILLING one to save the other.

Ok, so by your standards, I can kill you under the scenario I laid out before.

There are some complicated pregnancies (rare though they may be) that inevitably lead to the death of the mother and the baby if not terminated. Those are the recorded instances in the reports probably. One particular example (of an ectopic pregnancy) was mentioned in the reports. Why do Catholics believe that it is better to let the mother and the baby die, when it is possible to save the life of the mother and let the baby die? What is the moral, scriptural, theological, or philosophical justification for this?

zerinus
From the first article that you cite:
To terminate an ectopic pregnancy is legal; it turns out, because since the foetus is not in the womb the procedure would not be an abortion.
So it was bad medical practice the allowed the woman to die. Not this Law. Read the articles before you say things that contradict the articles.

None of the figures are mine. I didn’t invent the figures. I obtained them from the same news reports. If you put the right search terms in Google, you will get lots of hits. I selected three of them to post here, but there were many more.

Then your post stating Nicaragua abortion rates are pretty low then is a fabrication. I copied the passage from one of your links. If you found it necessary to state 82 women died, but didn’t locate the abortion rate, then that is misleading. Here is the quote again:
Yet women in the region, who have poor access to contraception, have some of the highest rates of abortion in the world – with an estimated 3.9 million annually, or nearly one per woman over her lifetime.

All of that is a red herring. It is possible to make a law banning all abortions except when the life of the mother is at risk. Why can’t you see that?

It is never permitted to directly kill an infant (or any other person for that matter, with the exception of self defense, just war and capital punishment), and so consequently, it is immoral to perform an abortion in the case of an ectopic pregnancy, even to save the life of the mother. This is immoral, whether it is done surgically or chemically

I can see that. And while it’s “possible”, it is not acceptable. Putting the life of the mother ahead of the child is going on record stating one life (the mother’s) is more valuable the the others (the unborn child’s). Why can’t YOU see THAT?

Because woman are breeding machines to mormons they do not care about babies or they would baptize thier infants

Incidentally, why is this thread in the non-Catholic religions forum and not in one of the news forums?

Dosdog,

Just to make this clear even the SSPX website article you posted does admit to some surgical procedures being allowed in good conscience during ectopic pregnancies:
“Since there are opinions on both sides of this question, both can be safely followed in conscience. Consequently, it is permissible to have surgery, provided that it is not a direct abortion, but the removal of invasive tissue, but it is never permissible to take medications to kill the live fetus.”

You are not even putting the life of the mother ahead of the child. You are making the life of the mother absolutely worthless. You are saying that if the baby is going to die, then what use is the life of the Mother? Let the mother die too. Is that what Jesus taught you to do?

zerinus

Abortion is murder. It should be outlawed completely. There are very few cases where the mother’s life is threatened by carrying a child to term. I have a perfect example in my own family.
A pre-born child is a living human being and has the right to live.
