How about taking a gun to your mom’s head? I guess you think that that is OK, or at least a lesser crime.

Don’t ever say such a terrible thing. What is your problem? No one is saying it’s okay to kill anyone but you seem to think it’s okay. This thread is about abortion and that is murder.

Suicide is not justified. Any form of killing is immortally wrong, and people who do such will be liable to judgement.

It is also about killing your mom in order to stop her from having an abortion.

No, this thread is about an article you posted. The article was about doctors who do not do abortions. No one is talking about killing his/her mother. Your statement is a non sequitur.

The articles were about women who had died as a result not being given abortions. Abortions were the only way to have saved their lives.

“The publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you” (Matt 21:31), said the Lord to the hypocritical Pharisees. He did not tell them how much sooner.

zerinus
So you think you’re closer to being a harlot than I am?

That must include all the Catholics on this board at least.

We all are because in the end, we will judge according to what we have done on this life before we can truly enter the house of our Master.

I just don’t feel the need to justify abortion, the killing of innocent unborn babies is acceptable to Christianity as whole, and God himself.

No, I think the harlots are closer to going to heaven than you are.

zerinus
Can you be certain to judge someone’s heart and yet you are but mere mortal, who can neither read or know the hearts of every single human being. The one who decide to goes to heaven is God and God will judge us when we we die.

You lack neither the authority who goes to heaven or not.

The articles were about women who died as a result of not getting proper medical care. Ectopic pregnancy was one example mentioned. A faithful Catholic medical professional would never refuse treatment of such a condition.

When is an abortion necessary to save the life of a pregnant woman? Is there any case other than ectopic pregnancy? (In post #76 pyropam, an RN, indicated she didn’t know of any.)

Did you even read the articles you posted??? There was no one in the articles killing their mothers. There was no one in the articles killing **any **mother.

The first is about a woman who died of a ruptured ectopic pregnancy which the article admits could have been done legally and is not against Church teaching. She got some bad medical advice from doctors who were afraid of the law. So she went to a faith healer. In the US, hundreds (or maybe even thousands) of women are told to abort their babies because of CYA practices by doctors. In neither case is this the Church’s fault.

The second is just a shorter version of the first including the same example of the woman who died after going to a faith healer.

The third is a bit broader but riddled with inacuracies. It stated, for example that abortions are criminalized in all of Latin America except Cuba. But later in the same article it mentions Colombia’s libleral abortion laws and does not mention at all the very liberal abortion laws in Venezuela. It stated that thousands of women might be denied abortions under the new law in Nicaragua. Do the Math! Let’s just say that half of those 82 cases were ectopic pregnancies that could have been legally and morally treated. That’s 42 women who would have died due to a truly life threatening pregnancy. Do you really think that all 42 of those good Catholic women would have chosen abortion? In, as the article says, “a desparately poor country,” I would expect that many deaths due to insufficient pre-natal care, lack of pre-natal education and/or bothched abortions. Abortions are fatal to the mother in a percentage of cases even when done properly.

All this law really does is to close the loophole which existed before. Doctors were able to claim (as they do in the US) that almost any pregnancy posed a danger to the mother.

You are really giving the LDS a bad reputation here with your insistance on the morality of abortion. None of the LDS I know would take that position. Not to mention its a Catholic forum.
