I didn’t say he went to England, **I said silence is not authoritative. **
If he went to England, and that didn’t make it into Scripture, fine.
If he stayed in Nazareth until he began his ministry, but that didn’t make it into Scripture, well, then it’s as equally unspectacular as his hypothetical visit to England.
We will have to agree to disagree on this then.

In this particular situation there is no mention of it in Scripture, by the Church, by the Church Fathers, in Tradition or tradition. There is also no evidence in England itself that this happened. For me that means it definitely did not happen.
I would venture to say that Jesus going to England WOULD be something worthwhile mentioning by someone (other than the OP).

Fascinating discussion. If anything, I would argue, in addition to statements already made:
If Padre Pio can bilocate, well then…

There’s also an intriguing, if less-well-known, legend that the adolescent Jesus went to India and achieved enlightenment before beginning his public ministry . . . 😃

And of course there’s that legend that Jesus died there…

That was a popular one amongst the New Age crowd when I was growing up.

yes because the Christians squabbling amongst themselves could no longer feel the vibes that even the New Agers could and do - by the way no need to vist to be convinced for a movie is being made to come out to you to judge for yourselves - a book of research by an American E.Raymond Capt of the AIA as a small paperback is well worth reading titled The Traditions of Glastonbury[ISBN 0-934666-10-5] - twinc

So Jesus was in England, India ,Japan and a Native American(Mohawk) told me he preached to the NA.I’m surprised he spent any time in Judea if he did so much travelling!
If he traveled by foot(most common way of travelling especially for the poor) it would have taken a heck of a lot of time and energy and for what possible reason? To try out his preaching skills, go tin mining, or just a vacation?
Or ese he had a “frequent sailing” card!

As you know from my other posts, I don’t place much credence on the notions that Jesus travelled to England - and even less on the possibility of travelling to North America or Japan!

However, the traditions which hold that Jesus came to the South of England say that He came with Joseph of Arimathea. If this were true - and indeed it is possible, mad as it may seem - they would not have come on foot since Joseph was a rich man (Matt. 27:57). Scripture does not say where Joseph got his wealth, but many believe that it was through trade, and so he may even have owned some boats. This is all speculation of course, but I personally don’t think a visit of Christ to England is of any consequences (not to faith anyway) since it happened (if it happened) before His public ministry.

Bear in mind, too, that Jesus only began His public ministry when He was thirty. There is very little information on what He was doing for the thirty years, apart from accounts of His birth, circumcision, Presentation in the Temple & Jesus in the Temple when He was twelve years old. Given all that He achieved in only three years of ministry at the end of His life, who knows what He might have been up to over thirty years!

be that as it may reputable and reliable sources such as Augustine and Cardinal Caesar Baronius, a learned and reliable historian and Vatican librarian have something to say about the Glastonbury saga and the early BritishCeltic Church in Glastonbury - all this can be found in a small paperback by an American researcher from the AIA.The book is titled The Traditions of Glastonbury by E.Raymond CaptISBN 0-934666-10-5 - twinc

… except for the fact that He was referenced as “the Carpenter’s son”. I understand that this meant he followed in Joseph’s (of “the Holy Family” fame, not Arimethea) footsteps as a carpenter.

yes but the very wording and reason for the question seems as if there was some doubt and also later being required to pay the strangers tax which was definately not the temple tax as some would have us believe - btw the first St.Joseph is known as spouse of Mary and guardian of the saviour child, wheras the second is known as uncle of Mary and guardian of the Holy Family - twinc

que?

Next thing will be a discussion on the historicity of the"grail" storiesStuff and nonsense.Jesus would have been at home learning and earning. They didn’t have a guild system but something similar,Took many years to master the art of carpentry.
What would His poor mother be doing while he was sailing to Cornwall? And why would He be going in the first place?Wouldn’t it make more sense to be learning about His people and their God instead of taking a jaunt?
In scripture there is no other connection between Jesus and Joseph of Arimathea except Master and disciple. He was not Jesus’ uncle, brother, golfing buddy or whatever! Friend and disciple nothing else-and Joseph didn’t know Jesus as a child.
Just take this story for what it is- a quaint folktale-that’s it!

What? I’m going according to scripture -your going according to folktales. Not history or science but folktales. Not Gospels or ECF but folktales.I’ll stick with my source. It’s a heck of a lot more reliable then wishful thinking and folktales.

Please answer yes or no and why so "did those feet in ancient times walk on England’s mountains green and was the Holy Lamb of God on England’s pleasant pastures seen - twinc
That’s an Anglican song!

and so what even if but even not so,so please look up your Catholic hymnal - btw Anglicans were Catholics when that song[hymn]saw the light day and I do believe not that it matters that Wm. Blake was a Catholic “tiger, tiger burning bright in the forest of the night, what awesome hand and eye carved thy perfect symmetry.Did He who make the lamb make thee” - twinc

so is what you say according to Scripture or your own imagination, like many you may imagine He worked in a carpenter’s shop - wishful thinking and folktales.Wood workers have been working with wood since the world began, just think of Noah,s colossal ARK and the colossal Juggernaut at Babel etc - twinc
