Speaking of American Abominations of Nature, I recall the best junk food I have ever had at a fair, which was in Lowell, Massachusetts (ok, the actual best food was when I was living on the Apache reservation and I had roast lamb & a charred green chile pepper wrapped in frybread, but that isn’t a dessert)
It was deep fried peanut butter and jelly sandwiches!

Those are really good!
We both like those here. That’s one hard candy that I can say that hasn’t changed since we were young. It still tastes the same to me. My maternal Gramma got me liking those when I was a child. She used to love those and would carry them around in her purse.
She always had some kind of hard candy with her, whether it was a Life Savers or a Jolly Rancher, but she especially loved the Watermelon-flavored ones, so those have become my favorite flavor, too.
