No I haven’t.

Most people I know are kind loving generous people.

Most people I’ve met have been kind loving generous people.

In my own family history are people who have given their lives for others.

I also know from the experiences of others that most people, not all, but most people they too encounter are kind loving generous people.

This leads me to conclude that indeed most people, anywhere you care to name, are kind, loving and generous

I’m not sure if I’m missing the point you’re trying to make

Agape love is wanting the good of the other for the sake of the other.

I think you are mistaking kindness and a caring exchange of niceness with agape.

God has agape love for you.

I’m aware of the differences between and usage of Agape, Philia and Eros.

If you’re claiming that only Jesus can show agape for mankind, I think you’re mistaken.

I understand this is how the usage of the word has evolved in a Christian context but I reject it’s exclusivity - man is perfectly able and has shown ‘agape’ - that self sacrificing love for the other and for their wellbeing.

I think you’re mistaken. I can see now what the problem is: you think you know love.

It is all very well to talk about God’s love or claiming to understand/know it better than others (whatever that means).

However, the topic of the thread is Judgement Day and Jesus has very clearly specified the criteria for judgment in Matthew 25 31-46.

It is unnecessary to claim that you have some special knowledge about the Christ or his love or that the Christ will favor you in some special way for your beliefs and/or knowledge. These are all delusions about being special.

The Christ has already specified the criteria and you would do well to study it:
  1. Are you standing in the way of providing healthcare to those who need it?
  2. Are you trying to reduce needed food for the hungry?
  3. Are you for evicting strangers/immigrants from your community or country?
  4. Do you care about the thousands of people in prison?
That is the basis on which you will be judged.

Good works do not bring a person into a state of justification.

But if a person is in a state of justification - they can loose that state of justification via mortal sin - including mortal sins of omission.

And one is to live in love - to do good - to live according to the state they are now in…

You are justified by faith and works. You do not accept Jesus Christ.

Who told you I don’t accept Jesus Christ? Are you psychic or something?

What I was trying to say is that believing in Jesus Christ, loving him etc is not enough - you also need to follow his teachings.

If you ignore those teachings that are specified in Matthew 25 31-46, you are at risk when Judgment Day comes around. The teachings clearly say that caring about the ‘least of these’ is just as important as caring about Jesus.

So the question is - are you doing anything for the ‘least of these’ or are you working against them - the poor, the marginalized, minorities, immigrants?

I love this sort of thread. Starts with the unknowable about who will get to Heaven and under what criteria or circumstances. Then we move to discussion of the efficacy of good works followed by an atheist who seems almost proud to be beyond prayer. Then we have a good Hindu who reads the Bible and appears open to discussion.
To the original poster I would suggest that we should all look to our own salvation. I, for one, will let St. Paul shift for himself as St. Thomas More would say.
To the young atheist I would suggest your position requires just as much a leap of faith as does the most committed deist. The cleaner philosophical position must surely be agnosticism. (However, I will keep you in my poor sad prayers, not out of hope for your change of heart; rather out assurance in the power of God. )
To the educated Hindu, I stand in admiration and pray that God will take you to His heart as I pray that all may be saved.
Good works? If you do not do His Will it will do you no good to call His Name.Matt. 7.21

The question is How would the Last Judgment work?

Those with faith and works. Those who repented. God will show you when you cooperated with His graces and when you did not. But even your perseverance is from grace. We will see God’s grace in our perseverance.

The way Ive always pictured it is all of us will be sort of standing in a very very long line at this time, waiting for our turn in front of God, people will not be rushed or impatient, as time will no longer be an issue anymore, I just wonder how people will be while standing in this ‘line’, will they be discussing their lives with others, will some be scared, worried? Will we all have clothes on, or everyone be naked?

Im sure many of us have their own opinion on how this will be, but Id bet none of us are right, it will probably be something none of us can even speculate about.

There is no time in eternity. It happens all at once, in a way…
