The "lazy" way of praying

Is this lazy? Putting in a CD of the rosary while I do housework, etc. I admit that my mind wanders more than when sitting perfectly still, eyes closed, but sometimes I feel like I don’t have time!
 
Beats putting on music or the soaps or sitcoms, that’s for sure!

Sometimes we gotta do what we gotta do, and so many of us are ridiculously busy 😦

Sounds like Ora et Labora to me. If it’s good enough for St. Benedict, it’s good enough foor me. 🙂

If your intention is to have the CD player pray for you, then you would even pass the limit of laziness. 😃 However, if you play it so that you can somehow think of praying and think of Virgin Mary and God while doing other things, that is beautiful.
 
As when done while driving, it is imperfect prayer, but prayer nonetheless. The cure? Find one hour per week and recite the Rosary in the Lord’s presence at Adoration. 3:00 AM is a great, and silent counterpart to the 3:00 PM Hour of Mercy. Being alone with the Lord gives you a hint of what Mary and John felt at the cross.

One of my favorite sayings:

Pray as you can; not as you can’t.
 
I play a Rosary CD on the way to work, and pray along out loud as I am driving (not in heavy traffic, though!). It’s not as if the CD is praying “for me,” it’s just leading the prayer. And when I take my long walks, I have the Rosary and the Divine Mercy on my .mp3 player, and I mentally pray as I walk. If I just sit still, I find that my mind wanders too much, and the next thing you know, I’m thinking about my grocery list while I’m saying my Hail Mary’s. :o
 
I pray the Rosary twice a day via iPod while commuting (not out loud – I’m on the Metro), and am the first to admit it is an imperfect form of prayer. However, at the very least, it puts my focus on God and that has value.
 
it is one way of praying, not the only way, and a way of consecrating your housework to God, sure beats watching soaps or listening to WPMS
 
I pray the rosary with EWTN at 3:30, and honestly, watching this on TV and praying with others keeps me more focused than when I pray it alone. Your example seems to be similar to what I find is really helpful.

As a freqently prayed sideline to Our Lady, I ask that she take my imperfect praying of it (with a good number of distractions), and polish it up before presenting it to the Father with her perfect intercession on my behalf.

I’m told that as long as we find distractions to be painful, they are not willed, and are therefore not displeasing to God who sees our desire and intention to pray well.
 
Try to make 10 or 15 minutes a day to pray while not doing anything else. Skip dusting one day or don’t vacuum under the couch. Your house will not notice, but God will know that your mind was not completely on Him. (But please continue to listen to the rosary or hymns etc while doing housework instead of soaps if that is the choice you have!)
 
I think that it is better than not doing it at all. A good way to keep your focus on God. I used to know an older lady who would read part of the bible then meditate on it while doing housework.
I dont know if you have any young kids but a protestant friend told me once when I was frusterated with my prayer life that now is not the time in your life to be a prayer warior! We do the best we can at each season of our lives.
