**give us this day our daily bread is our very earthly request we ask God. Jesus said in Mat 7:11, if we, though we are evil, know how to give good gifts to those we love, how much more will our Father in heaven give good gifts to us when we ask Him!
Still: One can’t ask God, without absolute believe in God. Neither ask God for anything, if not doing a thing to achieve it – like honestly working for it, instead of trying to get what others worked for. God said; in Gen 3,19: By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food. You have to work for it and not let others work for it; to freeload is not serving God.

If the world live in the word of God, pay attention to the two commands; love yur next and love God - hunger wouldn’t exist. But instead, we accept, that in many places of this world and even amidst us, people starve, caused by greediness, hate, murder, war, thirst for power that deprives peoples will to work and earn their living,
Plow-land is given to us enough, plus recources and enough water; if the world spend as much money for water desalination as it spends for silly things like hyper space exploration and weapons.

Let’s ask: Are we allowed to pray “give us this day our daily bread” when at the same time we destroy food, and people die of starvation outside our air conditioned save spots where we linger in opulence?
Where then is our godliness, our spirit of charity?

Our clear, right word in the word of God, would be one first step. More people than we’d think, agree and would take part in it. We know what’s the right word from Jesus Christ who told us the truth, as He is the truth, the life and the way. The world tends to the lie instead of truth and right word. Let’s remain in the right word and remember our next when we pray “give us this day our daily bread”.
Let’s do our part to make true, that our next gets his daily bread – his daily need. Then God will give us what we need and more - see Matthew 6:5-8= for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

Saint Paul also faced this same situation in his evangelization work. He wrote in 2 Thessalonians 3:10 that “we gave you this rule: that if a man does not work, neither shall he eat”. Laziness is human nature, so he had to fight it back then as well. You are certainly right about the sorry state of the world, especially Africa, as to food. Again, it is mostly caused by politics and greed for power and money. The legacy of Judas.
